What mounting key comes installed on these lights? I forgot to look before I shipped them. The two TLR-7 HLXs that I have bought recently are still coming with the "UNIV" key installed. If a user installs a light with a U/UNIV/GLK key (depending on which light it is) on a Gen 5 Glock or other gun with an actual 1913 rail, it will fit loose. We have had problems at work with guys using the wrong key and the loose light widening out the 1913 slot on their gun, making it so neither key will fit snug.

The TLR-1HLX comes with the 1913 key preinstalled. I swapped over to the GL key and don't have any issues. It's snug on my gen5 45 MOS-5. Holster fitment is a little more friction going in and out but I loosened the friction screw and it's fine now. Not minority enough!

I'm usually a Streamlight guy and have had a couple of bad experiences with Fenix, but that light output in your photo is pretty impressive, and the price is definitely hard to argue with. How do the switches feel? I'll be interested to hear how it holds up in your 2000rd class. If it does well it's going to be really hard not to pick one up.

This is probably because of the way the TLR-1 clamps to a rail (similar to an X300-B). The 1913 key is the proper key for a Gen 5 Glock. If you keep the TLR-1 tight, it will probably never be an issue, but I have seen a lot of Gen 5 frames altered by using the smaller key.

Good to know. I will switch it back. Not minority enough!

Yeah, I've long had Surefire WMLs on gen3 Glocks, and using the proper key, there is some back-and-forth play if the crossbar slot in the frame. Bugs the Hell out of me, so what I started doing a few years back is taking a foam earplug and cutting it in half, then compressing it between the rear of the WML and the front of the trigger guard. It takes a lot of doing to get the WML to lock into place, but once it does, it's solid, no play in the light. In the gen5 Glock, it's 1913-spec, and Surefires lock in place tighter than Dick's hatband. Regarding the Fenix GL19R, that would make a great camping or deep woods light. Attached to a Glock G20, loaded with hardcast Double Tap and Buffalo Bore 180 grain hollowpoints would be a feral animal and feral human being solution. If the Fenix WML has durability, it would make a good police light, but, along with the new Streamlight, would probably be a bit much in close interiors. For a hundred bucks, though, that Fenix is something else. I wasn't even aware it existed.

Me either. Provided it's durable (I've never had a problem with Fenix construction in the past), the switches aren't finicky or cut in and out (problem with both my TK11 and a TK15), and they kept it simple momentary/on/off instead of trying to incorporate a cornucopia of different modes (problem with my TK15 that always tries to auto-revert to low whenever it starts to become even the tiniest bit discontent with the battery output) I could see this being a great option for the P320 build that I'm currently putting together.

I wasn't aware of that Fenix light either, but after looking at Chowser's photos I think I need a pair of them... one for my 870 and one for my carbine. Are they compatible with something like a pressure switch?

I had the Fenix v1 for over two years with no issues at work. I'm on permanent nights so I've used it quite a bit. I haven't had to hit anyone with it but I have banged it against plenty of trees and walls. lol It works and works. That's why I got the V2 when it released. Not minority enough!
