The TLR lights have always represented great value when compared to Surefire's X300 series, being less than half the price, yet I've never cared for the switch system on the TLR series.
But, now, Streamlight has updated the TLR series with push-type switches with interchangeable high/extended paddles, much like the TLR-7/8 series, and while it's no big deal to remove the TLR and X-300 lights to replace batteries (unless you're using the laser-equipped versions, which I do not care for), there's no doubt that being able to replace batteries without having to remove the light is more convenient.

1500 lumens initial output with a pair of Streamlight's USB-C-rechargeable batteries, or 1000 lumens initial with disposable C123s.

This new WML is more expensive than the standard TLR but is still about a hundred dollars cheaper than the Surefire X300

I have one preordered. It's supposed to ship in 14 days. I hope so. I ordered the one with the SL-B9 battery pack. I already have two extra SL-B9 batteries so it will be easy for me to hotswap the batteries when needed.

I have the HLX on my duty weapon. With the rechargeable batteries, the output is noticeably better than the 1000 lumen HL. The switches are another huge improvement. I use the high switches on both sides and find them very easy to turn on and off. The out-the-front battery changes are icing on the cake.

I don’t have this model, but I have had the TLR-1 HL 1000 lumen light on my P226 for years with zero issues. I also have other Streamlights on rifles as well as other pistols with the same great reliability.

Bought one a few months ago and ran it at a 2 day low light class under various lighting situations. Way better than the TLR1-HL in the candela department. It is a good upgrade if you need to punch out long distances, through tinted windows etc. While there are more powerful lights out there, this light is a good balance of price, lumens, candela and (assumed) durability. Excellent pistol light and pretty ok on a rifle. Just my couple of cents.

What duty holster?

I’m not sure of the model number, as Safariland has completely lost me with their numbering convention lately, but it’s a 7000 series for Glock 17/22 with optic and TLR-1 light.

I think Safariland makes their tlr-1 and surefire holsters with the same space for the light so any holster designed for either should fit.

tlr-1hl length is 3.4", tlr1hlx is 3.6" and the surefire 300 is 3.76".

and now mine is pushed back to expected ship date of 3/5.

Chowser, can you cancel that order? I can point you to a better deal and get it immediately.

I found the model number on my Safariland holster (it was half hidden by the tourniquet holder). Mine is a 7390RDS, it’s marked for “Glock 17/19/34 LIGHT OPTIC” it was originally issued for use with a TLR-1HL, as I’ve had for several years, pre-dating the HLX. After getting the TLR-1HL-X issued, it fits fine in the same holster.

I recently purchased the Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X (69504) for my P365XL but I would be all over this model for a full size handgun. I am seeing them for as low as $166 before tax and shipping, so they provide a very nice savings over SureFire’s model.

I assume this is the first Streamlight model to get up to 1,500 lumens? I believe they were mostly 500 and then 1,000 previously.

I have two of the TLR-7 HL-X one on a P226 and one on a Staccato C2 and they are great lights - especially for the price. I had not been shooting much over the past decade or so and when I got back into it this year, I realized how outdated and surpassed the X200 I had on the P226 was so I upgraded to the Streamlight. I was impressed enough to immediately buy a second one - and then a different variant for my AR, also to replace a very old surefire light.

The X200A was a whopping 60 lumens in a tiny square spot, the 200B was 60 lumens in a general flood with no concentration in the beam.

Yep - like I said, I went through a very prolonged shooting hibernation (living behind enemy lines in CA for about a decade didn't help). When I pulled the guns out of the safe and dusted off my shooting hobby, it became quite obvious that while the guns were still capable in today's world, the WMLs were early flip phone tech in an iPhone 16 world. Comparing that original X200 to my new streamlights was pretty comical.

Anyways.

Threw the TLR-1HLX on my duty gun and grabbed a spare gun out of my locker and stuck the Fenix on it.

Both charged up to full and totally not scientific and I am not a photographer.

Looks like the v2 Fenix has more throw while the 1HLX has more flood.

Both lights fit with no issues in my issued Safariland 7360RDS holster.

Chowser, any looseness on that mounted Fenix? I saw one review on Amazon talking about putting tape in the rails to "fix the wiggle". I don't see any other comments like this about that light.

A hundred bucks for a WML with that kind of output is a best buy if there's no looseness or reliability issues or the like.

No wobble whatsoever.

It's a really sturdy light. I have the original version as well that I used for years.
I'm putting the Fenix back on my duty gun. I have a class in two weeks where they said bring 2000 pistol rounds. So I hope to beat the hell out of the Fenix and test 3 MecGar mags.

After you mount the light and flip the clamp down, you tighten this screw which takes away the wiggles.
