Hi all,
I'm looking for gun safe suggestions for my truck, I want one I can mount under the seat and besides the buttons it should have a key just in case. My daughter's Job gives her a house just off campus but while they pay everything guns are a No-No. I normally leave it home when I know I'm going there but sometimes I'm already out and carrying.

Thanks for any suggestions,
60

Under the seat limits the size quite a bit. Have you measured that space?

Take a look at the headrest safe. It interests me but I want to see it in real time before I jump.

Is a Console Vault an option for your truck?
(I've had one in my F-150 for 15 years)

I have an SUV. I went with this simplex lock box.

Most of these kinds are too small to fit a holstered gun.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Another vote for Consolevault. Super easy to install and protects very well.

I had a consolevault in my subaru legacy years ago but went back to bmw. consolevault didn't make one for bmws. i bought a vaultek lifepod.

underseat did not work with the vaultek i got because bmw has speakers under there. lol. i had it mounted in the trunk. i recently switched to an alfa giulia and underseat doesn't work either. I ended up getting the booster seat safe since no one with legs can sit behind me anyway. It holds quite a bit and is very secure.

Been using GunVault’s Microvaults in my cars for well over a decade now. Replace the 9volt batteries at least once a year to keep them popping open reliably on the first try. Fit perfectly under most VW seats as well as other vehicles, but as was mentioned previously, measurements matter.

Is that the one that locks onto the car seat anchor points?

Key only.
Had one under the seat of my jeep.
Loved it.

There’s another one that is the passenger side head rest-

Plus one on the console vault. My last three trucks have had them. That’s covers over 15 years of use. Never had an issue.

My truck was broken into last year with a FOB scanner in a store parking lot in Houston. They tried to pry the vault open, but couldn’t get in. In the process they bent the back edge of the vault. I called the company and they sent me another vault for free. Absolutely great costumer service.

yes, it's pretty secure. you lose a seating position, but in the past six cars, I have never had anyone sit behind me because I need the seat all the way back. With the leather cover, it does look like a booster seat, but I have tinted windows so you can't really see it unless you put your cellphone camera up to the window to look in.

Right now, it stores my back up guns and magazines. I could fit my laptop in there too.

I actually ordered the cheaper one when it was 20% off but they were out of stock. After two weeks, the owner reached out to me and offered to upgrade to the top tier version with the buttons and fingerprint scanner at no additional charge. Then he had it shipped out that same day.

My 4Runner came with a ConsoleVault installed when I bought it and it works well. I’ll add another +1 to growing recommendations above.

For those of you using the gun vaults and other smaller safes, are you using the cable to secure them to a seat frame? I had one of those and it was annoying because the cable wasn’t quite long enough to make storing my handgun easy. I needed to be plenty flexible to reach into the backseat and stow the firearm.

I use a set of handcuffs. One to the seat frame, one to the trigger guard. Anyone can get thru anything given enough time. But they are gonna have to work at try to cut thru cuffs under a car seat which will draw attention. I rarely remove my gun, but I have to go into the Tomminator s school occasionally

it's this one. 30% off right now.
If I remember, I will try to run out to my car and show how the fingerprint works. I forgot what I set the combo too. My spare key is in my wallet.

can't figure out how to embed a short

I've been looking for a good storage solution also and found this review of the Console Vault that includes breaking into one. I'm impressed!
