And therein lies the problem.

This was in a kit I haven't opened for a wayyyy long time.

The neoprene suction cup has aged and no longer sticks to my eyeglass lens.

Its only natural enemy is age Big Grin and it lasts for years ( but not decades, it would seem).

Apparently they've been out of production. Here's the company website:
http://meritcorporation.com/orderform.html
but the 3 vendors don't have working links to the product. Maybe the website is an Internet orphan?

Is there a way/product to recondtion the cup to functional status? If not, is there a source of very small suction cups that might work?

Try putting some O-Ring grease on the suction cup and let it absorb into it for a day. Do not use patrolmen jelly, it will break it down.

Cheers

This conjured up my old vintage Farrsight Optical Disc that you attach to your eyeglasses like the Merit but with a clip rather than suction cup.

RichardC, Don't know if you can employ an alligator clip with some soft plastic tubing on it to elimate any abrasiveness to your eyeglasses for your old Merit.

Unfortunately the Farrsight is no longer available. When Brownell's had it, their number was 084-048-001.

The apertures allow an extremely deep range of focus akin to a camera at f/64. The front sight to target images are crisp.

And yes I still have it and use it. Big Grin

And RR, I originally hail from upstate NY FWIW. Big Grin

That's a neat old piece of shooting paraphernalia. One of the old-school bullseye shooters at our club was showing me his kit last year, and he had some metal clips made out of what looked like some kind of conduit hangar bracket that had a hole bored in them. He'd hang them over his shooting glasses to use as apertures. I tried one and was amazed at how well it worked. Sometimes the simple tricks can make a huge difference!
