I don't believe there is a difference in holster fit wrt caliber on the 229. I bought half of my 229 holsters for a .40, but they fit my 9 just fine.

I think fit problems have more to do with rail/no rail or half-height/full-height on the slide serrations.

I agree with JAFO, there is no difference in external dimensions in P229s based on caliber. Rail or no rail is the biggest concern and some kydex type holsters are molded for the half slide serrations models and some for the full slide models but the ones I have still work with either slide even though they are molded for one or the other.
