Beretta 92S, Italian police trade in
Just found a Beretta 92S that was refinished by someone along with a beautiful set of wood grips.

These grips even have a relief for the large protruding hammer pin unique to these guns.

This model features the euro style mag release on the lower left grip area. I just ordered two more new Beretta grips with the correct “D” shaped slot for this mag release system. These will have the more recent poly base pad instead of the stock flat steel base pad.

The machining on this former Italian police Beretta is great. Looking forward to getting to the range with this gun.

I owned a commercial blued unfired 92S several years ago and was always sorry I sold it. This gun should be a great replacement.

Very nice looking are you going to shoot it or keep it pristine...

Very nice, and it's a refin so you can shoot it and not worry about collector value. The S and SB are some of the finest-looking Berettas made, in my opinion. I like my early FS pistols with the straight dust covers, but the rounded trigger guards give the pistol more pleasing curves.

Been looking for a 92S in that condition, you've scored a beauty !

Beretta made loads of the 92S, so it is not a scarce model. That and having been refinished makes this pistol a shooter, not a collectible.

I'd avoid +P in it, of course.

Those older Berettas are beautiful guns. Nice score! I'll bet it shoots as good as it looks, too.

Very nice. Sip-some-bourbon-on-a-soft-couch-and-admire nice.

Is this pin different that on the 92FS, and later guns?

Don’t know. I saw a comment on the net about this pin on a 92S being larger than on other models.

MY MISTAKE!!!

Here is the notation I found about the 92S hammer pin:

……” These grips fit the original Italian Beretta model 92S, without the large circular hammer pin end on the gun (which is from the FS) and the corresponding cutout inside on the top of the left grip (this pin is found on the 92FS and 92F).”……

I love 92’s but admit I don’t know much about pre F versions. Why no +P? Is it the large hammer pin stuff?

RANGE TIME

Took the 92S to the range today. Here is a photo of some 124 grn S&B at 10 yards. Looks like it is going to be a great range gun.

Nice looking pistol. I bought one in the early 1980s and ended up selling it to a co-worker a few years later.

Bought mine in 1980 and still have it. Always been a sweet shooter.
