Glock is nothing more than a clone of the HK VP 70 anyway. Predated Glock by 12 years. Sorry Gaston did not even invent the Glock.

I feel like this is a Glock of Theseus argument. Enjoying it immensely.

In my caveman thinking, IMO, Glock is not only a brand , but a platform as well.

The Zev is a Glock (in stripper garb). Just like a Les Baer is a 1911. Or a Cimarron Frontier is a Single Action Army.

Not familiar with the zev but own several glocks. A simple YouTube search for zev oz9 breakdown shows that there are no pins to drive out to break it down. You break it down exactly like a glock. I would bet most if not all parts are swappable with a glock.

The only reason this gun even exists is because the patent ran out for glock. If they tried to make it 20 yrs ago they would have been successful sued by glock because it's a copy.
Nice gun though.

If they had named it a Zlock, none of this venom would have been necessary. Razz

OP, you clearly don't know what your talking about yet you've convinced yourself this isn't a glock clone.
Wrong.
"It breaks down like a p320".
Wrong. Please explain that claim.
"A glock is a copy of a hk vz70"
Wrong again. Outside of having a polymer frame and striker fired, the have nothing compatible or similar in design.

Yah, remember the S&W Sigma?

The Sigma series pistols were so similar to the competing Glock pistols that Glock sued Smith & Wesson for patent infringement. The case was settled out of court in 1997, with S&W agreeing to make alterations to the Sigma design and pay an undisclosed amount to Glock.

They wouldn’t have attempted it 20 years ago. Zev started out modifying Glocks. Once the patent expired, they made their own clone. I think it’s the best clone on the market, personally.

Ok, that's fine. Its a very nice and pricey clone of a glock and if that floats your boat, go for it.

But when someone claims it's this amazing unique design that breaks down different, uses different components, manages recoil better and walks the dog. No, check your meds.

I stand corrected about one aspect of the ZEV. It field strips like a glock and shares many glock parts but I didn't understand how the OP compared it to the p320. Apparently the polymer frame isn't the registered firearm, the metal front/frame come out like a p320 and can be swapped with other grips.
Kinda cool but still to pricy and still a glock clone with a twist.
My apologies to the OP on my misunderstanding of what he was talking about.

The OZ-9 uses an internal receiver/chassis that can be swapped between frames as the P320 Fire Control Unit does. Unlike the P320 FCU, the entire trigger mechanism is independent of the receiver. I.e., its much like an AR-15 stripped lower. That is the only serialized part that requires an FFL transfer.

The OZ-9 is based on and almost entirely compatible w/ Gen3 Glock parts, except the mag catch is Gen4 (for lefties). I think the only Glock parts that don't fit in the OZ-9 are the locking block & some pins.

You can run an OZ-9 slide on any Gen3 compatible lower.
You can run a Gen3 Glock slide on an OZ-9 lower.
You can remove the Zev trigger and run it in Glocks.
You can swap in a Glock or any other Gen3 compatible aftermarket trigger to run in the OZ-9 internal receiver.

Looks like a Glock clone to me. Red Face

I recently picked up a Nomad 9 frame. It's compatible w/ Glock parts but is designed w/ different grip angles and has other design features that preclude it from fitting holsters designed for Glocks. Nomad Defense still markets their frame as a Glock compatible clone.

Dafuq is going on here?

Does Zev offer gold “Tin” colored parts? Then it’s a Glock.

Feel free to spend more money than you should owning things and then justifying it, but it’s doesn’t change everyone else’s reality.
