Do any US police agencies carry a CZ pistol on duty? I can see them authorized for a off duty, however I have never seen them is a duty carry gun. Has anyone here ever seen an agency allowing these or issuing them as a duty pistol.
If not it begs the question...why?

Ryanp225The P09 would make a great duty pistol for any LEO agency.

ChowserWhat do they cost? Money is the driving force usually. Cheap striker fired pistols is where it's at. How many striker fired pistols does CZ have other than the P10C?
Not minority enough! September 18, 2017, 05:01 PM
bcjwriterTheir guns at LEO price are very competitively priced so I doubt price is the problem.
I'm finally getting my first, a P-01 that will be a off-duty gun. However there are a lot of other hammer-fired CZ's that are every bit as capable and affordable as striker guns out there.
I just wonder why they have not caught on. Even the Springfield XD's get holster time in law enforcement and they're made in Croatia of all places...

If I had to take a guess, I'd say lack of available duty holsters.

lymansalespeople,
pure and simple,
is CZ pursuing that market?
do they have an active sales force catering to LEO like Glock/Smith/Sig and apparently SA?

car541My agency allows them, and like one guy has one on the book as a secondary.
They are good guns, but the non decock models are only appropriate for LE use as a cocked and locked gun. As a DA/SA pistol, the thumb safety model is useless since no administrator in his right mind would ever allow a pistol on the road/range which decocks with a pull of the trigger.
The decocker models are OK, but work like a P226 with less accessory support, and more weight.
So what's the point of using one?

The P09, P07, and P10C are all polymer framed and the Sp01 is alloy framed so weight isn't the issue. All of the former are available with decockers. Aftermarket support in regards to holsters, sights, etc has caught up with all of the major mfgs.
So.... I guess that's the "point".

alptraumThere are a few, though I can't remember which ones spefically. I'll try to ask next time I see their director of LE sales. I know some agency up north (in Minnesota I think) uses the Scorpion. While not an actual CZ I know a local agency (Prairie Village KS, not very large) that uses the DW Specialist as their duty gun, used Valors before that. And a large local agency is switching to one of their bolt guns, I think the 750 Sniper but could be the 527 Urban Counter Sniper.
They are pursuing the market here. And outside of the US they are one of the most popular MIL/LE guns.

pulicordsThe agency I retired from 9 years ago would probably approve carry of a personally owned CZ, if an officer wished to buy one. If I carried a 9mm, the PCR that I own now would certainly be a good option.
I'd probably look to one of the more established custom shops for my carry such as Ted Blocker:
http://www.tedblockerholsters....y-Holsters_c_25.htmlBlade Tech officers their Level Two WRS duty rigs for some other CZ pistols:

BehindBlueI'sAt least for agencies that issue pistols, availability of armorer training matters quite a bit, as does logistical support.
Glock, Sig, and S&W have frequent armorer schools and are available almost anywhere. If you want to go to a LE certified armorer school in my state, Glock has 7 options between today and the end of the year. CZ has zero.
LE dealers in my state:
Glock has 18.
CZ has 1.
Add in Glock (and Sig) will give you a VERY competitive trade in program, will sometimes throw in duty leather if you switch, etc. Glock and Sig will provide T&E guns. CZ has, to the best of my knowledge, never approached us and asked to be included in testing.

Nelson Kyle KI'm a big fan of the Desert Southwest Law Enforcement Agencies especially New Mexico,Arizona and Nevada and some Utah I'm on their Facebook Pages a lot and I'm really impressed with the New Mexico State Police/Sheriff and City Police they really have a great personal duty handgun carry policies. I was on the Lincoln County Sheriffs Department Facebook page two months ago Lincoln county is in the northeast corner it borders Cimarron County Oklahoma panhandle and Dallam County Texas on the Texas panhandle I seen FB photos of the deputies firearms qualifying and one of the uniform deputy was shooting a 9mm CZ P-01 and some had 1911,Glocks and a deputy wit a FDE FNX 45. I would bet their is a few uniform LEO in New Mexico including the New Mexico State Police too carrying CZ guns they seem to buck the trend that other law enforcement agencies in the good ol USA.

Might you post a link to Safariland for a level 2 or better duty holster? One that is actually suitable for real law enforcement use because I am not seeing it either? (I'm not seeing any actual duty holsters that have any retention in their will fit line up). I assume that somewhere there is a basketweave leather version on a level one holster for BBQ's and the like, but only a fool would work the road in one.

The 6360/6365 is available for the P07 or P09, and the 7360/7365 is available for the P10.
Those are the only true duty holsters for CZs that I'm seeing from Safariland.

Don't leave out the SP-01 Phantom, essentially a 75 SP-01 with a polymer frame. A big gun certainly, but a poly gun nonetheless. Our CZ rep emailed me last week about these being available once again.

TheNewbieI carry a P-07 on duty in a Safariland 6360 ALS holster. The ALS is the only holster I will use on duty.

casThere are no holsters, they've been carrying them in their front pockets for the last 40+ years.

4859There use to be a few small County Sheriff's Offices in North Dakota that carried them.
