I like the guy who runs .22plinkster, his videos are usually informative but I have to disagree with him here. He didn't state at all in his video if he cleaned and lubed the gun, he didn't mention anything about a possible break in period, he bitched about ten round mags when nearly every other .22 pistol out there has a 10 round capacity (MK IVs, Buckmarks, SW revolvers, etc., and he is absolutely high on crack if he thinks Ruger pistol mags are easier to load than the G44.

I think I will wait a bit. I was one of the first to get the Glock 42 and it went back twice for repairs. It shoots fine now. I heard that the later production runs of the 42 had fewer problems.

My Ruger SR 22 has been back twice and now functions with ALL types of ammo. I think it could be a great training aid.

I have a feeling we will be seeing some minor tweaks or changes to this pistol. Also, from someone who talked to a sales rep at the Glock booth at SHOT, Glock is supposedly working on a 15 rd mag for the G44. I guess we shall see.

I would wait a good while before buying one of these.
I've seen two kabooms and two blown extractors reported so far.

I have had OOB (out of battery) fires in EVERY semi-auto 22lr pistol I have owned. Sig, hammereli, browning, hi-standard, colt, marvel unit 1, and 2, GSG, Ruger, and smith and wesson, volquartsen and all others I forgot to mention.

Every single out of battery fire happens just like 22 plinkster's vid. When you shoot tons of ammo through 22lr pistols, or even a couple of mags at speed. This can happen and this will eventually happen.

And it looks like Glock didn't build G44 stout enough to withstand an OOB discharge.

I’ve had a couple OOB .22 pops over the years and I have never had real damage to a Ruger MK2 and an AR .22 upper. More shock value and what are those sparks then anything.

Extractors are a point of failure. If there is an OOB. The extractor is blown. That keeps the gun from functioning. Keeping the owner from recreating another OOB.

That doesn't mean there isn't an issue with the g44.

My point was, I have had OOB in nearly every semi-auto 22 I own, and all of the pistols. It isn't if, but when it will happen.

The only OOB .22LR incident I have had happened with a Ruger 22/45. Blew off the extractor. Gun ran fine without it.

I had the same experience firing Federal Auto Match,Winchester bulk 36 grain and CCI mini mags.
I forgot to bring the adjustable sight screwdriver. It does shoot above point of aim.

I replaced the 44’s front sight with a Gen 5 .200 x .140 front sight, and it now hits POA/POI instead of a few inches high.

The front sight on mine is about to fall out. I’m going to risk it and put on a set of 10-8s.

My gun also hits high.

I have not made it to the range yet for a shooting comparison, but I had my Taurus TX22 and Glock 44 out for a quick handling comparison. The Taurus won hands down, its ergos are better and has a more substantial feel. Dry fire the Taurus has a more agreeable trigger.

As we all know shooting the gun is the proof of the pudding. I look forward to the range trip. Sounds like I should include some 36 grain for a good ammo feeding test.

I look forward to getting one in 6-12 months after all the bugs have been worked out.

Bought one two days ago, LGS had two, bought the last one in stock so far.

Feels just like a typical glock pistol, trigger is similar and JMO would benefit from a Ghost trigger bar, if they are determined to fit.

Certainly is a light weight pistol, fit and finish is good, ran 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mags through it without a hickup.

Hope to get up there and run some more CCI plus other rounds through to see how it does.

It is a blow back design like virtually every other .22 LR firearm.
The cartridge case blows back against the slide forcing it back as opposed to a recoil operated system.
That design doesn't necessarily need an extractor other than holding the cartridge case so it strikes the ejector properly, aiding in extraction of a stuck case or removal of a live cartridge.

As an example, the Beretta Bobcat and the similar Taurus 22 Poly series do not have an extractor.
The downside of this is, in the instance of a case becoming stuck the barrel needs to be tipped up and the case picked or pushed out.

In the instance of having an extractor, if the case was stuck the extractor would only be used to help remove the case when retracting the slide (it would not prevent a stuck case).

It is my understanding that the 32 cal Beretta Tomcat also has no extractor but stand to be corrected on that as I have no 1st hand experience with that pistol.

Steve22X has a good explanation. I did not know I had an OOB but someone on the next firing point caught some brass shards. By the time he realized how he got hit and called my attention to it, I had fired several more shots. Only damage was a missing extractor. I shot another 50 or so rounds with no malfunctions. Ammo was Remington. Ruger sent me a new extractor, no cost.
