I swear I had
something for this

I recently bought a used P226 Legion SAO and wanted to turn it into a "X5 Legion We Have at Home" and one of the options was going with the ported barrel option from BarSto:

https://barsto.com/product/357...extended-and-ported/

Any one have any recent dealings? I couldn't see on their website if there was lead times for their stuff, but none of it is listed as out of stock.

I have a Sig P229, SAS in .40 cal and an extra .357 barrel. Last summer I ordered a 9mm, drop in barrel from Bar-Sto. I took about a month to get it and, as described, dropped right in. It required no fitting and just a little working the slide to get it to wear in properly. Shot a tight group at the range.

It only took about a month to get it. It comes with directions on how to fit it if necessary.

Really like it and glad I ordered it.

Ordered one for my HiPower, took about a month and change to get it. It’s not totally drop in but was fairly easy to file and fit yourself.

Best to call them tomorrow and see which one you want that is in stock or not. According to their website, in stock barrel ships in 1-2 days. If they have to make it, it’ll take 8-10 weeks.

I didn't see they had an option for In Stock Barrels!! And to make it worse, they have two P226 X Five barrels in stock that won't work with my P226. I may have to punt on this plan...

I've personally never dealt with them, but they are a name known to me to be reliable and produce excellent barrels.

If you scroll down on their front page, it says if it’s not in stock, it will be 8-10 weeks. I ordered from them about a year ago, and that’s roughly what my experience was.

I bought 9mm conversion barrels for my P239 and P229.

Both worked great.

I took both to a gunsmith to fit.

One could have just dropped in but I wanted to be fitted for my carry gun.

I’ve never dealt with them until today regarding a custom barrel that he’s going to make for me. I was very impressed speaking with him and I can’t wait for the finished product.

They're definitely good people to do buisness with as well.

+1

There was a survey here many years ago that showed around 75% of all Barsto barrels dropped right in. The other 25% needed minor fitting.

Good luck.

Looks like the timing isn't going to work out. Unless I do something stupid and buy a P211 or a Bul Armory, I found a shop that will port my stock barrel along the window in the Pro Cut slide and get it back to me in a week.

I've bought Bar-Sto barrels before, and they work great, I just use the semi-drop in and mostly they are drop-in or require only light filing to fit.

In fact I'm considering getting a P239 9mm (not conversion) barrel just to have an extra for all my P239's, I have one extra threaded SIG barrel but 2 would be nice.

I’ve got two. One was a .40 conversion barrel for a 229 .357 and the second was a .30 Luger conversion for a 9MM 220. It is listed on their website for a 226 but will work for the 220. Grey’s did the final fitting for me.

Irv is a great guy, but has had some staffing complications over the past year or so. From what I understand he tries to batch orders to make a run of barrels once the order gets to a certain threshold.

For example, the Browning Hi Power had a run of barrels made once every 6 months for a few years. I don't know if demand has changed the timeline or not.

I have had many conversations with him since back when he was in the 29 Palms area of California, regarding barrels for Glock, BHP and 1911. His work is great and he backs everything up.

All I can say is that I recommend patience. The quality is worth the wait.

And if your response to that is like Ed Gruberman in The Frantics skit 'Boot to the Head', then I think you should avoid causing him or yourself grief.

I bought a semi-drop-in barrel in .357 Sig for a P239. It needed a little work ro get to fit properly, but that wasn't much of a problem. What I DID have problems with was the chamber fit. It was VERY tight, shaving brass regularly and failed the "plunk" test". I took it to a gunsmith to have the chamber reamed a touch to loosen it, as this is a fighting gun, not a match gun.

I bought a semi-fit Gen 5 Glock 22 .40 to .357 Sig conversion barrel. My buying experience was great. I called Bar-Sto to order it and Irv, the owner, answered the phone. I asked, "What's the boss doing answering the phone?" He said, "I actually don't mind at all." He took my order on paper rather than computer. I waited a month for the barrel. Zero regrets.

The barrel is stainless and the quality is off the charts. I had to have my gunsmith fit it because it was so tight. Incredibly accurate. Totally reliable with Speer Lawman FMJ, Remington FMJ, Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, and Remington Golden Saber.

I like it so well that I'm going to buy a Bar-Sto barrel for my old P226 9mm.

BTW, I once had a Glock G22 with a 40-9 conversion barrel. It wasn't cycling properly. Called Irv. He said 'send the upper in'. I did and got it back with a new barrel within 2 weeks.

I really like him.
