I recently picked up a P226 in .40 and love it. I was looking for additional mags and found good ratings in the MechGar mags. I was wondering if anyone has the 12 or 15 round versions. I wanted to know if they fit flush with the frame.

15 rounders will protrude a bit. The baseplate is thicker.

I only have SIG branded (mecgar made) 12 rounders and they are flush, but I cannot speak for the mecgar branded versions as they sometimes use a different baseplate.

My P229 is an early 2000s one not a newer one that uses newer magazines if that matters.

I use mec-gars in my sigs with the exception of my 225's. I even have some ultra rare P220 mags from them. They are the best out there bar none.

Just for the record the linked mags seem to be promags not mecgar. promags are to be avoided at all costs.

MEC-GAR (Italy) are factory for the P229. They make magazines for a lot of manufacturers.

Check with TOP GUN SUPPLY, JOE'S MAGMANIA or GREG COTE, LLC. The latter is a member here and has fair pricing on magazines and shipping costs.

If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

Unclear whether he needs mags for a P226 or P229 (thread title vs. OP's post...)
MecGar produces a 13 round flush-fitting magazine for the P226/.40. They also make a 14 round extended magazine for the P229/.40, this being a standard 12 rnd body with a "+2" floor plate attached.
We have sold MecGar magazines in our shop for a number of years; can't recall ever hearing a complaint about them. I personally use the P229 14 rnd. magazine as my spare/reload when I carry my P229/.357Sig.

Edited to add: The Pro Mags linked to in the OP are junk; do not waste your money.

I bought the 12 rounders and they fit perfect. The Base pad is just a touch bigger and the gun cycles with them perfectly.

Thanks for all the input.

I just shot my 229 on Friday with MecGars that Greg Cote sold me.
All of them worked great.

Yup, Mec-Gar SIG mags are about as great as you're going to find. Well made, reliable, reasonably durable...can't expect anything more...well, except for replacement springs, plates and followers when it comes time to replace those parts. That's about the only downside to Mec-Gar magazines; you can't source replacement parts from them.

I hope you bought the Mec-Gar mags and not the pro mags in your link. Mec-gar are good to go ,the Pro mags are junk just trash them now and save yourself the aggravation.

We now offer replacement followers, springs, locking plates and floor plates for our magazines. You will need to call us directly at 860-635-1525 to place the order. We only offer them for the latest versions of our aftermarket magazines.
