Just picked a pristine Browning Hi Power made in 2015. My dealer said it came from a divorce settlement. I plan on giving it a much happier home.

There is not a mark on it and it looks like it has never been fired. Came with two 13 round “mouse trap” magazines (my favorite), box, and all the papers. The fired casing envelope shows a date of 2015, May.

Haven’t fired it yet but the trigger seems crisp after the take up. It is not as bad as some of the Hi Power trigger pulls I have experienced.

The announcement of the Springfield SA 35 a couple of years ago got me back into the Hi Power thing again (3rd time in my shooting career). Don’t have a SA 35 and don’t really plan on buying one. But after it was announced, I found a like new Browning Practical and two Grisan’s (a full size and a PI model). After a bought the compact PI model I sold the full size one to a friend. That PI model is really awesome.

Oh, I almost forgot, I also have a FEG PJK coming that is supposed to be in very good shape. Will post some photo’s of that when I get it.

My first experience with. a Browning Hi Power was in 1974 when I was issued a confiscated one when I made detective in the state police. Never had any formal training with it but I didn’t have any trouble.

My next exposure to Hi Powers was about 2008 when I picked up two Argentine FM models. I also picked up a new Browning model like the one I bought today. The FM’s were nice but the Grisan’s seem nicer for HP copies.

I will appreciate any thoughts or comments.

That's a nice looking HP, I like the sights on the later ones.

I’ve wanted a blued Hi Power for many years, kicked myself for walking away from one in a LGS on Christmas Eve 2013 because I promised my wife I wouldn’t buy anything that day. Since then I passed on a couple of FN surplus “rattlers” and a stainless .40 at Cabela’s in December 2019 just before the plague hit.

Late last year a never fired Practical from 1992 came into the shop I work at. Pristine down to the bag still being sealed for the manual. Our Gunbroker guy was able to strike a deal with the owner, it now resides with me.

Still hoping for a blued one. I looked at the Girsan and the Springfield BUT while they were nice they weren’t the real deal, they didn’t “speak” to me.

While modern finishes may be better there's just something about blued pistols that like. I'm fortunate to have a blued HP, and picked up a blued CZ75 before they quit offering them. Same with revolvers, I like my stainless S&W's but I love my blued ones.

I believe it is from the factory. It is just like my Browning “Standard” model I bought about 2016 or 17.

Here is a Browning add for this model showing this rear sight.

That's interesting Trooper. I'm not the original owner of either of my BHP's, I love them both the same.

Trooper Joe, that rear sight looks a lot better than the older adjustable sights on the Hi-Power.

They're great-looking for sure. I suppose I should think that, considering that I put it in my top 5 in that thread regarding best looking pistols (or something like that, I think).

The mag disconnect does ruin things some, but that's a pretty straightforward fix. Congrats on your fine purchase.

Not specific to this thread but HP related, anyone know why FN America offers High Powers but "only for law enforcement and military"?
