I was just reading that DW recommends FP-10, Miltec-1 and TW25b. Hope to be able to find some locally.

I couldn't find FP-10 anywhere around my location so I started ordering a bottle when ever I place a Brownell order. Turns out to be cheaper than buying the stuff that they finally started selling locally.

Eight gun shops in my little northern AZ community don't carry FP10 or the other two products. Two shops looked at me like I spoke in a foreign tongue.

AMAZON carries it... Razz

Can the CHECKMATE magazines that typically come in DW pistols be disassembled? They appear to have welded base plates. I cleaned the insides with aerosol brake cleaner through the tiny holes in the base plates. Surprising how much came out.

Compress the spring at least a 1/4 to 1/2 way and block it with an allen wrench or something. The follower will slip out if you work it a little.

I don't own an actual DW branded 1911, but I do own the cheaper alternative. The CZ 1911A1. It was my first foray out of the Colt 1911 world and it is impressive. If the attention to detail on the CZ is any indication I'm sure an actual DW is even better. The only thing that has stopped me from seeking out a DW is that I absolutely HATE long triggers and flat MS housings. Sure, on an $800 Colt I don't feel bad about changing them out but if I am paying $1200-1400 for a 1911 I want it my way from the go.

CZ 1911A1 porn follows...

mbinky,

If I'm not mistaken, the gang in Norwich NY (Dan Wesson) also builds the CZ 1911s.

I fondled a 10MM Valor stainless in a , local gun shop yesterday and the trigger was simply awesome. The price, not so awesome.
