12131A SIG CSR who truly cares about the customer and his gun
This is not just another garden variety good CS story.
As many of you know, the stainless frame P228 is probably considered the holy grail of all P228s. I've been considering having one of mine that has been shot refinished by SIG in PVD Nickel, like the finish found on some SIG 1911s. I know, blasphemy! I was about to ruin the collectors value of this Special Configuration P228.
I emailed the CSR whom I work with all the time to request the job to be done, along with the enclosed pic of the gun. Back and forth a couple of emails, then he told me to call him a bit later when he was not busy to actually discuss this. Turned out that he did not know about the stainless frame P228, so he went a did some research on SIG's records and realized what a special gun it was. And, according to SIG's records, this gun from the first batch ordered from Germany in 2012 was 1 of only 10, not 20 as we out here originally thought. Normally, with any other common SIGs, he would have gone right ahead taking order for the project. But, with this SP P228, he advised against doing any refinishing that will harm its value. So, I thanked him for knocking some sense back into me. Now, that's not just good CS, but above and beyond, imo.

Excam_ManYeah, I'd slap a slide assembly on it from a TT if you want a temporary solution. This way you always have the originally configured slide.

David LeeYou need to just keep those all original. I bet CS comes right to SIGforum sometimes when they need answers. Those have to be the finest P228s ever made. Getting bored Q ? Go work on your Ruger...

soggy_spinoutYou really like that nickel finish, do ya now?
Blasphemy. One in 20 or one in 10. Well, it IS your gun...to do so as you please. Just don't tell the rest of us about when you do finally cave to
The Gods of Nickel.

HRKIts only original once, after that anything goes, right now the "collector" thing is original condition, cars, motorcycles, guns etc people are paying higher dollar for things that are in original condition, and that doesn't mean mint, patina is cool.
The great thing about patina and original is you are not dropping big money to fix something up to be like new.
