Ive not really used Gunbroker much but Ive been intrigued with these S&W 5926 recently.

Large batches of pretty beat up ones from Isreal have even been imported recently.

Came with 2 mags I picked some new MEC-GAR mags up from a LGS all for less than $500

BEAUTIFUL PISTOL - I LOVE steel framed pistols and the old Smith’s have beautiful lines.

Nice to see something with that silly cheese grater rail. I had an alloy frame compact similar. I wish I had kept it.

I have one similar to this, but it is a TSW.

What made it interesting, was a TSW with the rail delete option.

You don't see many 4505's. I wonder how many were manufactured opposed to the 4506's? Nice Smith!

I was issued a 4006 when my dept made the switch from revolvers. Heavy & not the most accurate but damn reliable & a very nice pistol.

I began my career with a 4006 (no rail) and mine was incredibly accurate. My only complaint was the 11 round mags vs everybody else’s 15s in their Glock 22s. I still have that pistol.

There were only 1200 4505s produced, and only in 1991.

Compared to many tens of thousands of 4506s produced from 1988-2000 (plus the occasional small run for LE orders later into the 2000s).

For example, in this case, you couldn't slap a 5906 slide onto it.

You also see it on early "old style" DAO 3rd Gens with the elongated slides, because during that period the DAO frame and slide were different than the DA/SA frame and slide. (Later 3rd Gens could be converted back and forth between DA/SA and "new style" DAO.)

There were 1,200 made and all spoken for by US Customs Service. 16 Years later, they, so called, upgraded to Glocks. Serial # TFS 3135 was my S&W 4505. Mine was adjustable rear sight. Found in a shop in Pennsylvania. The former Elmira Arms from NY State. I recall a image in American Handgunner of Tommy Campbell shooting a blue steel S&W 4505 from a match made wooden stair well. I never again heard anything of the pistols until Customs Service upgraded their sidearms. So, 1,200 manufactured.

I never really liked the looks of the S&W designed auto pistols when they came first came out. After 30 years they don't seem to be so bad now.

I seriously cannot stand you at the moment because of the envy I feel about the condition of the gun and the price you paid. I can't find any of the 5926s under $500. You got a smoking deal. One of my biggest regrets was selling a beat up 5906TSW because of how excellent the trigger and the ergos were.

My S&W 4054 (157 made) sits in the safe.
My S&W 6946 (Norfolk PD trade-in) is (sometimes) my local USPSA-style match gun.
