Jack of All Trades, Master of Nothing |
So ran across a Ruger Redhawk 2.5" barreled .357 8 shot revolver today. I can come up with no practical use for this revolver, but I want it. I mean it's a big heavy rock of a revolver, it's not a big bore, anything it can do I can probably find something else in my collection that will do it be either lighter, smaller, more powerful or all 3. But it's kinda' cool and I want it... My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

An 8 shot revolver would make a great house gun for new shooters. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

Well then, don't sit around here looking for a reason or excuse... Send us some pics when you get it home. (You do realize nobody here is going to tell you to leave it at the store?)

Those new Redhawk 8 round guns look nice and I am liking the shorter barreled models. The square grips for the longer barreled guns would look great on the 2.5" model.

Very happy with the looks of this guy - although I haven't yet had a chance to shoot it ...

I don’t think you need to worry about shooting thar enough to wear it out.

I'm in the same boat. No practical use for one, but If I saw one for sale locally I'd probably buy it because I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Even moreso a Redhawk in .45ACP/.45 Colt.

My only issue with the ruger is the grip angle doesnt work for me. I prefer tge angle S&W uses but the rugers are darn near indestructible "Dyin ain't much of a livin...boy"

2.5-inch .357. That hurt my wrist just reading it. Q

It likely weighs 3 pounds. Even my old wimpy wrists could make a go of it.

Its a Redhawk, you wheel it to its firing location. Plenty of weight to soak up the recoil of anything this side of a cruise missile. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

Not that it matters much, but Ruger's website says the barrel is 2.75" https://ruger.com/products/red...specSheets/5051.html

Just mobilize it |
I just held the 4.2” 8-shot 357 yesterday at a shop and it felt great. I love my 44 mag in the 4.2” barrel, and an 8-shot 357 would be a great addition.

I’m a big fan of Ruger revolvers. I’m a big fan of .357. I’ve lusted after a 4.2 or 5.5” version of the RedHawk for a while. I wanna see twilight range pics with huge fireballs!

This is much like the S&W 627 which was made famous in the Clint Eastwood movie Bloodwork. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

Yes, I have the S&W 327 PC, the lighter version of the 627. It's cool but it's clunky to carry and I won't shoot too many hot loads through it. It does bite! Still though, I like it. I've seen it called the Pug Nose.
