I'm pretty stoked about this one.

Been wanting one of these for a long time, just wasn't willing to pay what they go for.

I stopped in a pawn shop on my lunch break and saw this one in the case, the price tag made me do a double take. I asked to look at it, excellent shape with no box. Asked for a discount, no go, they just put it out. They did agree to selling for that price with tax. While I was purchasing a fella came in that looked at it earlier and wanted to buy it. Sorry

Can't wait to get it to the range

$400 otd

That is a fantastic gun and at $400 perhaps the deal of the month - wow! Congratulations!

Fine S&W at a great price, could probably net a couple hundred on the grips alone if they're genuine. I bought same model in as good condition here a couple years ago but $1k.

Fortunately was able to sell it for the same later on. Wink

$400 for that gun with those grips, you stole it!

I've got its cousin in a 6" full lug barrel 17-6 with smooth wood target grips. For a long time I called that gun my, "Consolation Prize". A 4" 617 with steel 10 shot cylinder and no lock had been a grail gun of mine for a very long time. I stumbled across my 17-6 while I was searching for one and bought it. It's HEAVY but extremely accurate.

Right after I drove the ALCAN to Alaska went into Wild West Guns to look around. I'd seen their work on Marlin lever actions and was really curious. In the used case they had my grail gun of a 617-4 and I had to have it. Explained to the clerk that I had just arrived in Alaska, did not have my Alaska driver's license or anything else yet. He agreed to take a deposit and hold it until I got things squared away.

Walked in a couple of weeks later to pay it off and Jim West the owner was there. He handled the transaction, looked at it and said, "If I had known this came into the shop it never would have made it into the case." Did some research after getting it home and found out that version of the gun was only manufactured for 18 months. No wonder it took me so long to find one.

Enjoy your new plinker and feel really good about finding such a deal!

You did great on that one. I already own a 6" 617 and I probably would've bought that one had I seen it anyway

Mine is the newer version, built on the round butt frame and it's the 10 shot cylinder. In addition to that I put a holographic red dot sight on mine because as my eyes get older it just makes it easier to shoot this way

I would have broke my arm pulling my wallet out for that price. Nice score!

$400? You’d better keep moving, the law is probably just a few steps behind you Big Grin. I could only DREAM of that deal, but they do exist. Well done.

Yeah, it's one of those chain pawn shops, mostly staffed with people that know very little or nothing about the pawn industry. I'm guessing they follow what a computer tells them with buying and pricing. I have bought quite a few deals from them. A $300 239, $350 Ruger 44 mag carbine, $400 930 tactical Mossberg and more

COLT SAA, that round but is a beaut

Where you wearing a ski mask, because that wasn't a deal, It was a robbery!

congratulations on scoring a great revolver. I use my 617 regularly for skill building and drills. I can't not smile when shooting it

For a real Hoot try it with 22 Short sometime. With hearing protection in place it's so quite you'll wonder if it actually fired and in a 52 ounce 6 shot 617 there will be no recoil at all. BTW, use a fresh target for this exercise for this so you can actually see each hit. BTW take a barbecue skewer with you because you will think that you fired a squib with the first shot, even when you can see the hole in your target.

I've stopped counting.

Nice score. Those grips are big money by themselves.

The 10 shot cylinders and pawl/hand parts are available and not that challenging to install. If you want to make it so. And completely reversible to stock.
