It's all about the hunt
I love collecting retired cop guns and when the PA State Police traded in their Sig P227's for Walther PDP's about 2 years ago, the hunt was on. Pa will always be home, even though we moved to Florida. I always wanted to be a State Trooper when I was a kid, but that never happened (wrong sex and color in the 80's).

I finally found the right decommissioned P227 that wasn't too beat up, and I'm very happy to be its next caretaker.

I've got a friend who is a Trooper and he hooked me up with some cool PSP swag.

That is really sharp looking and REALLY cool stuff your friend gave you. Congrats on such a nice find!

I didn't know that you had moved.

I figured this would be more in your wheelhouse...

Think of us this winter. LOL

Cool!

I like the in house serial.

Was able to find a P227 SAS and I hope you have as much fun with this one as I've had with mine.

We moved to St Augustine in February 2024. It's 90 degrees with 80% or better humidity and thunderstorms between 2:00pm and 6:00pm everyday from May until the end of October. I'm not sure how much better that is than two or three months of cold and an occasional snow fall!

I do have a PSP S&W 38-44 Heavy Duty that I actually found here about 15 years ago when someone posted a thread about it. I pursued this gun for about 3 years and finally convinced the owner to sell it to me. This S&W was a test gun for when the PSP was changing their duty guns. I was able to get copies of all the correspondence letters and invoices through the S&W Historical Foundation. It appears S&W send two 38-44 HD's by mistake.

That is really cool. Pistol looks like it was hardly ever shot with no wear showing on barrel hood. Really cool they used the .45 a number of times.

I’m from Pa and always have been interested why they change pistol platforms so often. Berettas, Glock GAP, Glock 21, Sig 227, and now the PDP. The Walther surprises me.

Those are both very cool. The documentation for the 38/44 adds the backstory which certainly enhances the cool factor in my opinion.

Very nice. I picked up an Ohio State Highway Patrol Beretta 96 DAO over 25 years ago. I too love trade ins with the agency markings.

Nice 227
I like the old cop guns, but am much more a revolver guy. I have owned a lot of old used cop guns over the years - typically bought cheap because of rough exterior condition but excellent mechanics which is all I care about. I am fond of the beaters!
My current one is a 4 screw combat masterpiece from the mid 50’s tons of finish wear but shoots great.
While happily an AZ resident now, having grown up in NY for my first 49 years I would like to find some of the old NY guns like the 357 model 10’s first made for the NYSP or a 681. While not a city boy, I wouldn’t mind picking up a NY-1 64 either,

That .38/44 is just the bees knees IMO.
