It had a folded slide, and possibly a k-kote finish. The frame had the earlier Sig rail as opposed to the newer version. Is this an odd one, or am I just not used to seeing these?

Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. It's in their wiring. They should not be released back into the general public. On the other hand they should not be warehoused either. I think they should be executed.....Spectre

Is this a two-tone, with the earlier SIG proprietary small rail? If so, this would be the earliest P220 Sport model. The SIG P220 and P226 Sports started with the folded carbon steel slide and subsequently evolved to the milled stainless slide.

Here is probably the earliest Sport model, a KC ('92) proofed P226 (imported and sold by The Attic a few months ago). Not mine. Note this one is just a regular alloy frame P226 with the adjustable rear sight.

No Sir. It was all “black”, and the finish on the slide resembled the k-kote finish on one of my 220’s. Frame finish looked normal.

OK, so what do you mean by "earlier Sig rail as opposed to the newer version"? There are 3 versions. The earliest is the small rail that is on the early Sport model to accommodate the huge weight/comp. After that, it's the current curved SIG rail. And then, the 1913 rail found on the Combat.

Btw, SIG did make the all black folded slide P220 with rail about 2004.

2004 folded slide SIG P220 with rail.

That appears to be exactly what I was looking at. Not really sure what was throwing me off, but I appreciate you taking the time! Other than being older, they are not really a rarity?

You probably have never seen a folded slide P220 with rail. That's why it threw you off. Not common, but I wouldn't call it rare. No desirability or collectability factor to me, and I wouldn't put any premium on it. Think of it like the P228R.
