Some companies end up with better products on a more consistent basis than others, but that doesn't mean even mediocre companies are incapable of coming out with a good product, even if it's by accident. The Taurus TX22 just happens to be a great and reliable .22 pistol at an excellent price when compared to others within the same range, quality/reliability, and usage-type focus.
Even after reading/watching reviews that state it's a great .22 pistol, you already proclaimed you "will not buy a Taurus", so why do you care why or why not Taurus happened to make a good .22 pistol? What's there to argue against such bias, if there isn't even a consideration of buying one? Or are you just looking for some confirmation bias reinforcement?
I agree with most of this. You misread my intent. I have no bias against Taurus. I’m curious how people rave about the TX 22 but state the TX9 is bad. Same platform. As for me, I’m just very brand loyal in my life. I can stick with a brand but recognize other brands are good. I just like what I like. It took me 30 years to stray from S&W and Sig. I simply don’t like S&W semi autos after Gen 3. Good guns but they don’t do anything for me. |

| I've also heard great things about the reliability of the Taurus TX22. As for why everyone is raving this much, it's probably a combination of factors. First, .22 LR semi-auto pistols are notoriously hit-or-miss when it comes to reliability; the TX22 being one of the few that is very reliable makes it stand out just that much more, especially considering that Taurus firearms are usually perceived as mediocre, generic, or otherwise unimpressive. Also, many people were very disappointed by the subpar performance of the Glock 44, especially given its manufacturer. This is the exact inverse of the situation with the TX22 and such a contrast, which is even more visible because of how prolific Glock is, only spells more good news for Taurus. Finally, even though Taurus firearms are known for being somewhat chintzy, it's less visible here partly because most other polymer .22 LR semi-auto pistols are somewhat chintzy as well, and partly because the entire TX line improved on the goofy triggers and awkward ergonomics of previous Taurus semi-auto pistols.
BTW, I completely agree about the 3rd-generation S&W pistols. Those are so cool. The current M&P line is excellent, but I'm just not into them. |

Spiritually Imperfect

| I have a TX22 Competition solely used for a few Rimfire-only Steel Challenge matches every year. It has been rock-solid in that role. It runs Mini Mags consistently. Best part is the red dot mount is fixed and does not move with the slide. Fun gun and excellent value for the money. |

Stupid Allergy

| My TX22 runs great… just as good as my P322.
