I got to shoot a Gen 3 Glock 27 today. It's definitely not a gun you are going to shoot a lot at the range. Kind of like a P7 only recoil not heat being the issue. That being said, it handles well and is accurate. After we got back from the range, we put a Hogue Handall on it (that was an experience in and of itself). With the grip, it really feels better and should be easier to control. All in all, I think a G27 makes a good CCW gun. It's not something you'll shoot a lot but with a Glock 22/23 you can shoot a bigger gun and stay proficient with the Baby Glock. Would I buy it over a G26? Probably not. But if you could get one for a good deal, I wouldn't hesitate either. __________________________

It's been a lot if years since I shot a 27. But I seem to remember thinking "what is the big deal?" about the recoil.

When my wife's department converted from revolvers to Glock 22s in the early 1990s, Glock offered each officer an exceptional deal on a G27 for personal use and/or backup gun (they had to qualify with it for BUG use). I have shot it, and recoil was "meh". It points and hits well. She still carries it almost daily, 14 years into retirement. She now carries with an OWB holster. She has made some noises about more capacity and 9mm, so I bought her a G17 that still sits NIB. When in doubt, mumble

It's snappier than the G23 that I normally carry, but not terribly so. But as my joints are incessantly aging seemingly with every breath, I generally prefer to choose other guns to take for a day on the range. -MG
