After much looking and checking prices etc. picked up the Academy 238 that comes with Fiber optic front sight and 7 round mag. Haven't had a chance to take to the range, but this is one nice quality gun. First new gun in a while and can't seem to stay away from Cz's or Sig's. Now I get to stock up on 380 ammo. We seem to have quite a bit to choose from in my area.

Congrats! I've had my P238 for over two years, and love the little beast. After a few early-on FTEs, it's been completely reliable. Now has 900+ rounds through it.

I also am a new owener of the 238. Stopped at a shop and found one in the used section. It was made Feb 17 so not to old. The gun looked new, fiber front with night sights in the back, rubber Sig grips 3mags 1 7 round and 2 6 round. Out the door for $425. I have put a few rounds through it and so far a good gun. Enjoy yours.

Had mine about 3 years. IMO it is one of the best guns Sig makes. I have about 1000rds thru mine without any problem. It eats any thing I feed it and would probably shoot rocks if you could load them. It has been my EDC from day one.

Mine and a friend of mine's 238 seem to have trouble feeding hollow points. I thought the Federal Hydra-Shock were good to go and then had an FTF with that too. I can't afford to keep trying different hollow point ammo so I'll just stick with ball ammo for a defensive round.

Hornady Critical Defense might work for you. My 238s feed it without a problem. Of course they also feed JHPs without a hitch, including the 99 grain Federal HST JHP.

Have you tried the Hornady FTX? It is not open ended and may feed better for you.
I carry Hornady and have never had a problem with them. I shoot a box about every 6 months and replace with new ammo as suggested by a range officer and a police officer.

My P238 has a very nicely polished feed ramp and chamber. Maybe that's not the case for all P238s…

My wife's P238 seems quite happy with Precision One 90gr HP/XTP's. It also shoots Hornady Critical Defense without any issues.

Mine takes the Precision 1 XTP 90gr as well. Anything I can find for range ammo as well.

Fiocchi Xtrema is also a great round in my P238. It is a great little shooter.

Finally got to the range and shot about 100 rounds. Combination of mostly Federal and Sig RN, and a mag or two of Fed HST and Sig V crown. Not one jam of any kind, one failure to lock back once the gun was getting dirty. It is accurate and runs like a top. Very pleased with this gun, Sig obviously has done a great job with the 238. I got lucky and purchased 8-14, so sent in for the 2 mags and a bag. Usually I miss out on free stuff, might have gotten lucky.

Congrats on the 238, I have had mine for a couple years now.

I have had 0 problems with mine, it will feed everything including JHP.

Try Underwood ammo, a lot more power then others and has functioned perfectly.
