dgang11true weight of P226 Elite
Was at the range comparing notes with another pistol shooter about the weights of our respective pistols, his a P320. He maintained that my Sig P226 Elite weighed 34 oz and looked it up on the Sig site and “proved” to me I was wrong by maintaining the pistol weighs 34 oz as stated by Sig.I have weighed the gun on two different scales and have always come up with 32 oz. Does anyone else own a p226 that weighs 32 oz? No big thing but just curious why the difference. Good Shootin’ to ya’.

Sooooooo.... sounds like you have your answer. Are you including an empty magazine? Most weights published include that.

12131It is what you weigh it, with your scale. The alloy frame SIGs are always less than 34 oz. The all stainless ones are always more than 40 oz.

FredwardGravity tends to vary by locale. Apparently it is much more intense in my area, as I tend to weigh increasingly more each day.

Blume9mmI'd weigh mine but I'm not sure which of my P226s has the slide for the Elite frame I have and I think it might have come with a 357 sig slide.

dgang11Did not realize that they're so many variables to the P226. Thanks for the input.

Scooter123If I were to weigh my pistols it would be with a full load in the magazine and one in the chamber. Because that is how I would carry it and the weight only matters when you are going to carry that item. Why people are fussing bout how much their empty gun weighs just has me shaking my head.
I've stopped counting.

dgang11The question was posted only to settle a bet. I agree, it only makes sense to weigh a pistol when it is fully loaded and and holstered.

huskerlrrpAre you asking for one to be weighed? If so, what conditions?

dgang11Yes, if you have a P226 Elite with an alloy frame, 4.4" barrel and an empty 15 round magazine. I would be interested to see if it weighs 32 oz.

soflaacI have a couple in the locker. Both are P226 Elite with an alloy frame, 4.4" barrel and an empty 15 round magazine
Black finish from a recent run SIG is putting out (2022 - E26R-9-BSE), DOES NOT have the original one-piece E2 grip - instead have Hogue G10. 32.4 oz.
Brushed aluminum finish from the first Lipseys run (2018 - E26R-9-ASE), DOES NOT have the original rosewood grips - instead have older SIG plastic. 32.1 oz.

dgang11Mine has the E2 grip, weighs 32.0 oz. Thank you for your info. I guess Sig just kind of lumped all p226 together and called it 34oz.

dgang11Have to assume that there is a lot of variation in calibers and frame and slide weight. A lot of different weights for the P226. Sig just rounded it off and called it 34 oz.

powermadMy 226 Legion comes in at 33oz with an empty 15 round mag, matches what's listed at the Sig store in the specs.
