Considering a 9mm 1911 and eyes lie a red dot. Kimber has one but I am unfamiliar with the Vortex sight. Have RMR red dot sights and like them. With the Vortex are they reliable, reasonable rugged for ever day carry? U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

Vortex has an outstanding, no questions asked lifetime warranty. They're a good company. That being said, Aaron Cowan (Sage Dynamics) did a 4 year study of pistol red dots and determined the only two that are rugged and reliable enough for carry use are the Trijicon RMR and the Leupold Deltapoint Pro. For a summary of the study, go here. The full study can be found here. ****************************** May our caskets be made of hundred-year oak, and may we plant those trees tomorrow.

Go ahead punk, make my day |
I don't carry with an RDS, but if I did the only one I would consider would be the Trijicon RMR. None of the rest are remotely close.

I'm the same. I do carry with an optic and its an rmr. I have watched numerous people at my regular tactical match try other stuff and eventually they get an RMR. FWIW> “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Throwin sparks makin knives |
Vortex has a good warranty, but I have been tainted by some problems with one of their scopes that they refunded my money after sent back a couple of times. I think I just got a bad one, not that a 45-70 has any recoil..........
