Hey there, I am new to this site, however I’ve been lurking fan for a while. I purchased an older p229 a while back and was hoping to get a more specific date of manufacture. I contacted Sig and they confirmed it is pre 2006, but that’s the extent of the information. They instructed me to join this forum for a more accurate time frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess serial would help. Serial number is “AD21499”. Thanks in advance.

Hey,

Based on your serial, it looks like your pistol was made around mid '94.

You may be able to get a better timeframe if it has the factory grips.

Sig casts a time stamp on the inside of each grip.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks so much for this info. Pretty sure these are factory grips too, so I’ll check that next. Again, thanks a bunch.

The grips only help if they are original to the gun. The serial number is more concrete indication. And yes, that number indicates 1994 production. Check out the serial number thread stickied at the top of this subforum.
