Here's my Challenger, a Colt. 1955

With period-correct Franzite plastic grips. This sucker's got about an 8 ounce trigger pull.

WOW! Now that is a 22!!

What is the difference between the Colt Challenger and Woodsman?
Ive considered a Woodsman along with the High Standard.

SC - my LGS with a great selection of Colts has a Colt Challenger in the display case, for sale. I can send you a link, if you’re interested.

The Colt Challenger was an economy version of the Woodsman (a non-adjustable rear sight, for example), made from 1950 to 1955. These pistols came from the factory wearing brown-colored plastic grips. Apparently, an early owner of my pistol replaced those grips with something a bit fancier.

Ah, I see.

The Link VictimNoMore sent me is VERY tempting.
It's a Challenger. But I really can't tell it from the Woodsman.
We'll see if I have a Colt Challenger in my collection soon.

Younger folks today don't seem to care much for these wonderful older pistols. Which is a plus for me.
