I have a P938 Equinox born on November 2013. Let me start by saying that when it shoots, it shoots great. A really beautiful pistol and the size is very handy. I am however having pair of issues that I believe are related.
1) There have been several Failure to Feed issues where the round gets stuck on the feed ramp of the barrel. I examined the springs of the magazines and they are in the correct position. I have separated a pair of the magazines which wont cycle rounds by hand at all. I have a total of 11 magazines and my intent is to try all of them thoroughly. I will be trying the magazines that cycle normally first in order to see if it is only a magazine issue. I say this because this brings me to the second issue:
2) When the pistol cycles the slide seems to "drag" a little. As if it getting caught on something. This happens with all of the magazines to some extent. As this happens with all of the magazines, I was thinking that it may be a problem with the pistol itself instead of the magazines.
The barrel is polished completely, including the feed ramp. It also has the older MSH and corresponding spring. I plan to upgrade these parts to the newer generation as soon as possible, although I am sure the MSH and spring are not causing the Failure to Feed issues.
Before I go looking to solve these issues does anyone have any advice or experience with similar problems? Are there any other parts that need to be upgraded?
When I got mine, I had a similar feed issue after I took the grips loose while cleaning it. It might have been the 10th or so outing and I was anal about the cleaning. Apparently I was over zealous with tightening down the grip screws. I took it apart to see what I had done and found nothing, but after putting it back together, no issues. I’m not sure what it would have to do with it, but that was my experience.

All kinds of ammo. 115 grain FMJ, 135 grain Critical Duty, 124+p Gold Dots, 124 NATO FMJ. A few misc loose rounds as well. This message has been edited. Last edited by: DeputyCG,
I know this may sound simple, but are you sure that when you are firing the pistol your hand is not touching the slide? I have a 938, 2017 vintage and was having some issues until I changed my grip on the gun slightly.
I recently removed the grips to examine underneath in case of accumulated gunk or debris snd found that the screws were rather tight. After putting them back on the problem persisted however.
I’m generally pretty good about not obstructing the slide when I shoot, but I’ll make doubly sure this next outing.
Thanks for all of the replies. This message has been edited. Last edited by: DeputyCG,
I bought mine in 2012. When I first got it I put 2 boxes of 124 gr. ammo through it. Don't know if that had anything to do with the gun running good the rest of the time I owned it or not. I sold it in 2018 to help fund my P365.

I have noticed that the top 1-2 rounds cause the problem most of the time with some mags being worse than others. Has anyone had problems with their magazines causing this problem?
I had a sport model with the same birthdate. Nothing but a problem from the start. First time at the range the mag started dropping out for no reason and the front sight disappeared--seriously. Sent it back to Sig three times because it would not feed hollow points, no matter the brand. The last time Sig polished everything and sent a note with it stating it shot a mag of Sig ammo with no issues.
Foolishly, I took their word and loaded Federal HST and proceeded to carry it for a good year. I was at the range and said what the heck and tried to shot the Federal hollow points--this was when you could find ammo. It would not feed a single round. One in the chamber fire and then jam. Traded it on a Sig 3765XL that has not missed a beat on any ammo. Even held my breath and shot a number of mags with mixed hollow points and round nose. Not a single issue.
I'd like to say the 938 is a nice gun but I would not take one as a gift. I understand the later ones are fine but I had no luck with the one I owned. I wish you the best.
