A good friend lost his Gen 3 G23 while hunting in the mountains in Western Pa. He reported it and was sick about it, but six months later, a DNCR Ranger called him and said someone turned it in. The only parts showing any wear were the take down lever and slide lock lever which had a little surface rust on it. We tore it down, looked all through it but did not clean it up, and then put the loaded mag back in it and fired all 14 rounds. Didn't miss a beat.
Pretty impressive.
Oh, and he threw away the junk nylon holster he was wearing that day and got some good gear.

The OEM extended floorplate on Glock magazines is fine, if you install the proper mag springs. An additional coil is needed on the G19 and G17 magazine bodies (IIRC, the G26 works fine with a stock mag spring and the extended floorplate).

On my G17 house gun, I keep a magazine with one of these "+2" floorplates. I install Wolff's "+10%" G17 mag spring, which has one additional coil than the OEM G17 spring. If you do this, they work like a charm.

Same thing with G19 mags and the +2 floorplate. You can use Wolff's +10% spring for the G19 or you can use a G17 OEM mag spring, which has one more coil than the G19 OEM mag spring.

But, you are correct- if you install just the floorplate without installing a longer spring, you are asking for trouble.

Glock +2 are the only baseplates we allow at work. Having had them on mags from 1998 and never failing is a good enough track record for us.

If I do modify mags (like I did with a bunch of mags for my kid's Platypus) with the +2, I install Wolff +10% springs as well.

Not minority enough!

The really good news is that you know it's realistic to hide fully or -1 loaded Glock mags around the property when the WEF shuts down the grid, people get crazy looking for food or you have to vacate the home if Zombies and such get inside. Now you can get to the woods where you'll have ammo and mags hidden and accessible that are fully functional..

Yes, both are stainless steel.
