Thanks for this thread. Very timely. My double thick Filson belt is sadly coming to the end of its service life. I guess 11 years of constant, almost daily use made it a worthwhile purchase and investment, but right now Filson has been unable to get enough satisfactory materials to make a run of belts to make any dent on demand (especially one in my size).

I have a Hank's belt and Armour belt, both have been great and still going strong after a few years.

I just ordered a Kore belt. It should be here this week. A friend of mine has one and I was very impressed.

Not a leather belt guy here… They seem to be way too thick and heavy for my purposes, then bend over time.


Wilderness 5-stitch instructors belt with titanium buckle. Over 20 years now, one belt.

There are a lot of good options being recommended.
I have been trying out the EDC belt from Wilderness lately and it's performed better than my 5:11, and leather gun belts.

I’m a fan of Beltman but I also found a deal on a crossbreed and I like it a lot too. Too early to tell about durability but I have no reason to doubt it will last.

I have a 1 3/8” double thickness KRAMER with a steel insert. I think it is horsehide but can’t recall for sure.

I think it is incredible. At least 20 years old and going strong. Took several years really to break in because of the steel insert. One of the best gun accessory purchases I have ever made.

My current black belt is an excellent Amish piece of leather, double thickness, no steel insert, very good, but can’t compare with the Kramer.

Does anyone else have a similar Kramer, and can you compare it to any of the other manufacturers in this thread?

I have a Wilderness belt. They are great and they are indestructible. Not a fan of the buckle though. Once you go Cobra it’s hard to go to anything else.

I have a Rgrizzle belt I have been wearing everyday for the past 6 years,its horsehide and cowhide, its been a great belt.

I always go for those adjustable belts, sometimes i need to relax the belt a little if i sit down or depending upon how much stuff on my belt, being able to micro adjust is super helpful. Trying not to self promote here, but Magholder sells a belt that does this, it is a canvas belt. But there are other brands out there that work the same.

I believe it's nearly double the cost of a Beltman, depending on options. For the last several years, I've pretty much only ordered from The Beltman for leather belts. All of them are great quality though.

I've been wearing WT 5-Stitch belts for close to 20 years, too. They replaced the velcro on my first one for free when it wore out. Then, for some reason, the damn thing shrank after I quit smoking, and I had to buy a new one.

I tried a 5:11 belt for awhile, and they're alright, but not quite up to the WT's.

Thank you so much. This is just the kind of perspective I was looking for. So you find the Beltman nearly as good as the Kramer? Even though the Beltman is cowhide and the Kramer horsehide? My sense has always been (based on horsehide holsters) that horsehide was so much stiffer. The Kramer belt I have is literally 20 years old and in great shape. But if you have both a Kramer horsehide double thick and a Beltman cowhide double thick, and they are similar, that would indeed be a savings.
