Anyone ever heard of this outfit before? I was in the local Sportsman's today and they had this brand on the rack. Wasn't sure if this was a newcomer to the market or not:

Never heard of it.
Might be fun to see if you could break or wear it out and test their guarantee and reputation.

Never heard of them until now. They are a newcomer. Their Glock mags were released a year ago.

They claim their mags are an improvement over Glock's, but it takes time to build a reputation. Also, their mags cost about the same as Glock OEM.

My favorite thing about Glock are their mags. I have so many of their double-stack 9mm mags that I've lost count, and I've always paid less than what XTech is charging.

Glock's have a 40 year proven track record. We had a member here post about losing a Glock mag outdoors and finding over a year later. He ran it again w/ no problems.

So here's the value proposition:
I can buy a lightly used OEM Glock mag for $15 or less, and it is proven to be reliable & durable.

or

I can buy XTech's for $22 or so, and it might be marginally better than Glock's which are known last several thousand rounds (by some owner anecdotes, tens of thousands of rounds).

Easy decision for me. I'll let other people be beta testers. If Xtech's are still in production a couple years from now, highly recommended, and more competitively priced, then I might pick some up.

Doesn't magpul also make glock mags? Or have they stopped? Two name brands vs unknown. For what benefit?

They might be good mags but when they cost the same as oem, I don't see the benefit, as factory mags have always been good to go for me.

I’ve never had any issues with Glock Brand magazines in 9mm, 40, and 45. I strayed once with some Magpul 9mm mags and had issues (sticking and feeding issues). Whoopee duppiee, I saved a buck or two per mag buying non-OEM. Now I have mags I don’t trust. I’ll stick with Glock thank you.

OEM mags are not expensive. And if you really want to penny pinch, MecGar Glock mags are even cheaper.

Not minority enough!

Glock mags only for carry. MagPul for range and in a pinch, carry. Been seeing ads for a South Korean made Glock mag called KCI. No experience with them.

Xtech has been around for a minute and by most all accounts seem to make good stuff.

Here is the rub for me personally though. Glock factory mags are great mags in general. Glock factory mags are fairly cheap mags in general. If you are going to sell me a non factory Glock mag it is either going to have to do something the factory mags don't, while still being a great mag, or be a good bit cheaper, while still being a good mag.

For me, personally, MagPul has really been the only one to offer anything compete with the factory mags. They are easier to take down, have proven to be good mags and are cheaper, in some cases by a fair margin. I still prefer factory Glock mags.

For that price, not sure why I would want to try them. I've got a ton of Glock 17 mags and a few Magpul ones that I got on sale. I'm not much of a fan of the Magpul ones either and they are regulated to range mag duties.

If I'm buying anything besides Glock factory mags, it'll be the MecGar metal mags for about the same price.

Screw it. I'm always up for trying something new.

I checked out Xtech's website and I was intrigued by their "Freedom Series" of magazines since I live right next to Washington DC and Maryland which both have magazine capacity limits. Plus, all the usual suspects are out of Glock factory magazines at the current time.

I've ordered two Xtech 17-round Glock 17 magazines, a "Freedom Series" 10-round Glock 17 magazine and a "Freedom Series" Glock 19 10-round magazine.

I will report back once I have range results. However, I will not be able to make it to the range until February as our local range is closed for repairs. Also, I will not be able to do any type of strenuous testing as I just don't have an opportunity to do that type of shooting. I'm not going to run through some 4-day class shooting a thousand rounds. It will just be me firing maybe 50 rounds at a range session.

I have two stores close to me that do LE trade ins and they always have lots of old OEM magazines. They look rough and I have few that even have the badge numbers on them. NEVER! had a problem with any of them. Usually, can grab them at $10-15 a piece. I never had a Glock until recently but used them in my Dagger and no complaints.
