S&W 3rd Generation Pistol Gunsmith
I recently gifted two S&W 3rd Generation Pistols to my brother.
I dug in the safe and found a LNIB 5906 9mm and a well used 1006 in 10mm.
I purchased the 1006 here on the SIG Forum several years ago.
The 1006 needed some attention and I was at a loss where to send it for inspection/repairs.
The S&W Factory no longer supports most 3rd Generation models.
I had my FFL ship them out to 2 different locations.
The LNIB 5906 went to the FFL where my brother lives.
My FFL shipped the 1006 to a fellow in Mississippi who is a FFL/Gunsmith.
He's also a S&W Forum regular.
He detail stripped the 1006 and found that it had a "bubba" action job done to it at some point in the past.
As in stoning/filing/polishing fire control components without using jigs.
In just over ONE WEEK the 1006 was all fixed. New fire control parts, springs, stainless guide rod, OEM Xenoy grip, internal plungers and levers.
The fire control parts that were replaced include the hammer, trigger, sear, drawbar, trigger play spring & rivet.
He fabricated a new recoil spring guide rod from pre-hardened stainless bar stock.
The 1006 was test fired with no malfunctions and a sub one inch group at 15 yards.
I am very pleased with the FFL/Gunsmith. His work appears excellent and he communicates promptly.
If you have a 3rd Generation S&W pistol (and likely 1st & 2nd generation models) that needs repairs,
I highly recommend this guy!
My email is in my profile if you would like his contact information.
And a FYI: When you purchase a used firearm, you better detail strip it when you receive it and check for 'bubba" work while you still have a chance to return it. I won't make that mistake again!

He is a craftsman who does OUTSTANDING work! Smile He fixed a Performance Center Shorty 45 MKII that a local bubba had screwed up installation of new sights on. You couldnt tell it had ever been damaged.

In addition to being an old school smith and 3rd gen expert, he is a fine gentleman too. I will Emailhim to see if he minds giving out his screen name from that other board. Regards 18DAI

Emails sent to all that requested his contact info.
I'm not trying to be mysterious here, the S&W Gunsmith specifically requested that his email not be posted in a public view Forum.

Hi Guys! I know this is an old post, but really would like to find the name of the gunsmith you were describing. I have a 3rd Gen Smith that has started to key-hole and not fully reset after some shots. However, I can't seem to get to cee_Kamp's profile. Any help would be appreciated. I have put my email address in my profile, if you would like to reply directly.
