LEO .357 P226 uppers… Login/Join

So a vendor just listed LEO used P226 uppers in .357 SIG. It’s a good price and I love .357 SIG… but what will this upper fit? I suppose a P226 in .40… anything else?

I'm not the expert on this, but my understanding is any modern 226 lower can do .22lr,9mm,.40 and .357 with a slide change. Of course .40 and .357 can also be done with a barrel change only. But I'm sure the experts will pipe in eventually.

When I bought my exchange kit it said it’s for P226 in .22 or .40 frames not for use on 9mm frames. What vender is this I wouldn’t mind another!
I’m a big .357 sig fan!

Those came from my agency. Most of them don't have more than a thousand rounds through them.

What, me worry?

Unless Sig Sauer changed something in the last several years which is always possible, a .40 cal P226 can be converted to .357 Sig with just a barrel swap.

The heights on the factory sights are slightly different between the two, but not enough to affect accuracy at handgun distances. Someone with more knowledge than me can quote the exact heights for you.

I’m really curious to know what happened with the frames.

I have a DA/SA P226 in .357 Sig plus a 40 S&W barrel. That top end fits and functions properly on the frame of my 9mm P226 SAO.

Money.
They part out the gun and make more for the parts than the whole gun.

It's also possible the guns were supposed to be destroyed .... so you destroy the stripped lower with the serial number and save all the other parts for resale. I have a friend who was contacted to do that with confiscated guns and that's what he did.

It was in an email I got from AIM.

I didn’t identify them in the original post for two reasons.

1) Wasn’t sure of the rules. Some sites get unhappy if you mention a vendor who doesn’t sponsor the site.

2) If I said where it was, it might sell out before I could go back and buy one… turned out that didn’t matter!

These weren't confiscated. They were agency purchased and traded to Sig when we purchased our P320's.

Some agencies are goosey about letting serialed parts into the wild but will sell the rest of the parts as “kits”. You mostly see them with guns that have been confiscated by the law in these frameless kits on, say, GB. A shame the agency in question couldn’t do the same with the entire guns. They are fetching a LOT more than just the kits.
