So I wandered into a gun store today that I hadn't been in before. You know it's a good gun store when one whole display case is devoted to 10mm. Sure enough they had a 3" Ruger GP100 in 10mm. Yes I fondled it, yes I want it! I'm probably going to go back tomorrow and see if I can negotiate a trade. I've got a Smith 2-1/2" 66 that I've never even put a round through. Part of me is like, "No it's a pre-lock Smith I'll never be able to find another one!" The other part of me realizes that I have a 3" 66 that I carry and shoot quite a bit and I won't miss the 2-1/2". Never thought I'd be trading a Smith for a Ruger...This message has been edited. I’d keep that Smith. You will regret selling it. Put the Ruger on a CC instead. Pay it off with your tax refund and call it a day. La Dolce Vita

If nothing else, sell the Smith or put in on an online auction, don't trade it and take a beating. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

^^^^^^^^^^ This. A trade will get you 60¢ on the dollar, max. Put it up on auction and get 100% of what it's worth, not 60% of what it's worth.

Wandering, but not lost...I think |
I’ll wager you’d have a line of buyers if you post it in the Classifieds here on SIGforum.

I would hang onto that S&W.

Those Smiths are fetching big bucks here. I wouldn’t trade it. Find another way to get that GP100. Lay it away for the time being. ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

Keep the S&W if you can. "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, pilot and author, lost on mission, July 1944, Med Theatre.

Keep the Smith, it's value will probably continue to rise.

There's no way in heck I'd make that trade. Beyond the pre-lock goodness of the S&W, I wouldn't see any benefit of going to a 10mm over a 357 mag.

I wouldn’t trade. Layaway an option for the Ruger? RB Cancer fighter (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) since 2009, now fighting Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Keep the smith. There is really no upside to getting rid of a pre-lock Smith. Also, my opinion only and I do have a .45ACP 625, but I generally feel like if you want to run 10mm it shines in an autopistol more then a revolver. Just my own opinion. "Guns are tools. Keep the Smith. Find another option for the Ruger. And you may have difficulty getting full 10mm performance from a 3 inch. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Keep the 66. I have one that near 40 years old and is still tight as a drum. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

Moonclips, faster reloads. Shooting a heavier bullet than a .357. Bigger hole than a .357. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

1. Commonality of ammunition for semiauto 10mm pistols. 2. No need for speed loaders to make fast reloads. 3. Milder on recoil with full power loads when compared to a 357 Magnum. 4. It gets extra attention at the firing line. La Dolce Vita

If you are going to carry a revolver and want bigger holes and bigger bullets, get a .44 mag. I'd rather carry a speed loader than moon clips. OTOH: If you just want to buy something new, go for it. Someone will gladly buy the 66.
