Looking to try out a red dot on a pistol for the first time. I won’t buy Chinese optics, but it seems like the only real options for the standard footprint are Holosun. Anybody have some good recommendations for a different company’s?

Without the plate option, I don't think you will find much in the RMSC footprint.

Some of the SIG optics are “assembled” here. The shield optics (I think are European).

Unfortunately your picking will be mighty slim.

In a brief, non-comprehensive search it appears that 100% (design, components and assembly) American-made (or country other than China) may be a tall order. I took a look at the Leupold DeltaPoints (there are different models), but it only says "'designed, machined and assembled' in the US." It does not specify the origin of the components. Burris (FastFire, various models) does not appear to show any country of origin at all.

It doesn’t have to be American made, just not Chinese. Completely fine with European or Taiwanese.

I have a Shield RMSc on a 365. Says it's made in the UK, not sure about every component. I like the optic FWIW.

Sig Romeo-X Enclosed Compact. Have one on my 365 AXG and have been happy with it and allows co-witnessing of stock sights.
