My Sig’s night sight issue
Hello,
I was wondering what you should expect for the lifetime of Sig’s night sight (x-rays) IIRC on my P365X? The front sight is pretty much dead. The rear sights are glowing very dimly. Born on date for the gun is 02/24. I picked it up in 05/24. I am pretty sure they should last a little longer than just shy of 3 years. What say you?

This is a well known issue with the xrays sights on the P365. They die prematurely. Been discussed plenty on here. Call SIG CS on Monday. They will either send you a new NS or ask you to send it in for replacement.

Take a picture or two to show them. That’s what I did, when mine died.

Yup. When I would buy a Legion, the sights were the first thing I’ll remove.

Xray3 sights are one of several examples why Sig no longer claims, "To Hell and back reliability."

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Will get a hold of Sig on Monday. Like another poster said on one of the threads posted… as much time as I spend on this forum I should have paid more attention to this.

Yes, my front sight "winked out" on my 2022-vintage one in early 2026. Sig CS sent me an e-mailed FedEx shipping label and replaced it for free. Total turnaround time, from the phone call, to my taking it to the FedEx Office store, to its return, was about a week. Only the slide needs to be sent.

Doing anything less would be criminal. Tritium half life is 12.3 years, so the sight should never go completely dark after just 3 or 4 years. They had to replace it under warranty.

In my case, I didn’t want to send the slide in, told them to just send me the sight, and they did.

I suspect, but can't prove, that the tritium simply leaked out of the ampoule altogether, not that it went bad, i.e., not radioactive enough. Yes, I know, a distinction without a difference.

I never liked the night sights on the P365s, so I replaced all of them right away with Night Fision on 2 and, IIRC, Trijicon on the 3rd one. The last one is a SAS model so no change was needed.

I noticed on 2 of the 365s, that the night sights were pretty dim, one of the guns being new, the other being like new.

While I did not call Sig for any reasons concerning my P365s, I had another Sig with a minor problem, called Sig and they responded immediately. If I were you, OP, I'd give 'em a call if you like the Sig sights.

I firmly believe the P365 is a great gun, but for me the cost of the night sights and new grip module to make it feel and shoot the way I wanted was just a necessary expense.

As noted previously, call SIG CS and supply the serial number and they will take care of it for you. If you have a sight pusher they should be able to just send the replacement sights. If not you can send just the slide in for warranty service. Turnaround time is about a week these days for something like that.

I should have asked for store credit. But I will never keep another xray sight on any sig I own. ALL of mine have failed. I think they made them cheaper at some point...
