I've got a P320F-9-BSS-RX which is 4.7" barreled and it is modular and I was thinking about getting it set up as a compact for carry. What would I need to do ? I've got several (wife says too many) other Sigs but this is my 1st modular and I am clueless. Thanks, John.

Pick up an exchange kit or go shopping for the bits and pieces at places like Black Market Arms. You'll need the top end (slide, barrel), magazines and what SIG calls a 'grip module'. It can be expensive enough that (don't tell your wife unless she's in a good mood) it may make about as much sense to look for a good deal on a complete compact. Whether or not you have a thumb safety on the compact will depend on your fire control unit; someone else may know better but at this time it appears impractical to expect to simply add or remove the thumb safety for the fire control unit.

The X-Change Kits provide a complete slide assembly, Compact grip module and one mag. Uses your existing fire control module. Roughly, price for X-Change is 379, price for complete gun is around 580., 200 diff. Prices are for night sights, not RX. Most are out of stock, given the current gun sales frenzy. It started with Covid-19 and got worse with the riots. Here's some at Osage: https://osagecountyguns.com/fi...-kits/9mm--p320.html TGS also. Web site screwed up at the moment though: https://www.topgunsupply.com/ ______________________ An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing. --Nicholas Murray Butler

I would not take this course of action unless I wanted to completely undo my P320 Full Size purchase. Because that is what you would have to do since the only transferable part toward your Compact Project is the FCU. The FCU (Fire Control Unit) is the removable, interior chassis. It also contains the serial number. With FCU in hand, you now have to source all of the other Compact pieces (assemblies) to make up your P320 Compact. And you have your Full Size pieces to sell off or keep for a rainy day. Will it be more economical to go this route ? I would argue, no. Could it be done spousally undetected ? I would argue, yes. At the end of the day, I would keep my Full Size. (I morphed mine into an X-Five) Then I would look at purchasing either an X-Compact (3.6") or a Compact (3.9") complete pistol. ETA: Whatever you choose to do, I recommend avoiding any slide milled for Romeo1 or any slide without a rear sight dovetail. You will likely find some of these older slides discounted. Romeo1 is being phased out and a slide without a rear dovetail is less desirable. The current slide milling is for Romeo1 Pro/Delta Point Pro and some are even drilled and tapped for RMR. I was able to find a Professional Series slide with the new milling and a rear dovetail.

It doesn't really matter to her, she only commented when I had a range bag full of Sigs headed to the range (IIRC 9) so maybe I'll just get a compact or x. Then I'll just keep the full size in it's pouch in the truck. Appreciate the replies, John.

Depends. If you want to set up the pistol with a different grip, then just get a different grip module. Are you wanting to have less than a 17 round magazine, but keep the full size slide? Or are you wanting to just use the fire control unit, and get a compact slide and a grip module that accepts a 15 round magazine?
