I've gone through several cheap Kydex and leather IWB holsters for my Shield 9, all smaller ones with single clips mounted on the outer face of the holster. They all have the same problems. They either move around on my belt, or they rock back and forth (i.e., the cant changes) due to the instability of the single clip. I finally went to a TTGunleather "Mike's Special", which is very similar to the Milt Sparks VM2, and I'm loving it.

IMO the Shield is a little big for pocket carry. I can carry it without printing in a coat pocket, but getting it out in a hurry might be a little dicey.

I have the shield and it’s an ok gun. I guess the question on pocket carry really depends on the pocket. Works fine in cargo shorts. Can’t get it out of blue jeans pocket.

At the moment, I'm planning on pocket carrying it sometimes. I wear shorts most days and am 6'3 and 245 lbs, so pretty good sized pockets. Probably will trade it out with an LCP depending on other pants etc.

Just trying to figure out what kind of pocket holster works best with it.

https://www.desantisholster.com/super-fly/ I use the Desantis every day with my shield 45, minus the outer flap.

For me it is a little too big for pocket carry but a great size overall. Congrats on the new gun at a great price.

The M&P Shield 9mm is about the size of my Walther PPS M2. Upon the recommendations of a couple members over on the Walther forums I went with an IWB holster from PJ Holster.

He makes a unique holster that consists of a single piece of Kydex, folded and molded into shape--belt clip and all. The only piece of metal is a tensioning screw--which I've never had to touch.

Optionally, he'll mold and glue a stiffener into the belt clip for improved holster-on-belt retention. I opted for that.

Holster is incredibly light, comfortable and convenient. Pistol retention is perfect. That holster is part of what makes my PPS M2 my favourite carry piece.

A buddy of mine ordered one for his M&P Shield 9mm and loves it.

Funny enough, I came to the same conclusion and bought a S+W bodyguard 380 also a few days ago. Outdoor world has them on sale for $249 until Christmas.

On the shield, funny enough, the trigger is pretty damn good on it. It has a good bit of take up, but you can stage the take up, then it's firm but smooth and not that long and doesn't feel as heavy as it's supposed to be.

Same conclusion, I looked hard at a Shield but went with a G43 which fits (most of) my pants pockets. I will look at a G42 for the rest in the after Christmas sales.
