Pistol you would buy if Sig made it
Driving back from the range today, having just shot a couple of Glocks and my Sig 9mm 1911. Was thinking about how much more shootable and fun the 1911 was to shoot vs. the Glocks. The weight, the trigger, the way it fits in your hand is just ... better.

This got me thinking about what I would do to make my Sig 1911 even better, and then "why doesn't Sig make this gun?"

So here's what I came up with on the gun I wish Sig would make and that I would buy ... a 9mm long-slide 9mm 1911. Would have a match barrel and match trigger (4 pound pull). Customer would be able to choose from standard sights, adjustable sight and maybe some fiber optic sight. Oh, and also RMR cut option if you want to put a red dot on it. Longer slide would increase sight radius, reduce muzzle flip and make it super soft shooting.

Maybe also offer the pistol in 10mm - just because 10mm 1911's rule.

No, this would not be a gun you could conceal carry, but think how much fun it would be at the range.

Not sure if anyone but me would buy this pistol, but if they could keep the price remotely reasonable it would be hard for me to resist.

Curious if anyone else would be interested in something like this. Alternatively, what pistol would you want Sig to start making?

Sounds intresting.

While I don't think I'll hold my breath for a P320 in .38 Super, it wouldn't be hard to convert one with a patient gunsmith or a good machine shop.

Converting Glock 21s was fairly straightforward until I started on the extended mags.

5 inch P220 SAO Legion with fixed sights

P320 x Compact in .45

Original P225 legion

And if you have killed the .45 version, and the .40 is on the trend down, just make the P320 a 9mm only and slim it up slightly.

A P7M8. Wink

Seriously though, give me a hammer fired DA/SA fire control unit I can move between frames. Make it old school to hell and back reliable. The P250 doesn’t count.

But seriously a modern P7M.......Smile. I know, I know, I know but I lament the loss and HK isn’t stepping up. Razz

Double stack P210. Not P226 or P320 kind of wide, but more akin to being guided by the principles that developed the relative slenderness of the P365. However I'm not exactly sure how that mindset might translate into any gun wearing walnut grips. But it would be cool to try and besides, if it has to be they can do wonders with G10 these days.

10mm P320. In regular Nitron finish...not the expensive blinged out "up-market models only" bullshit that they pulled with the 10mm P220. Sig keeps teasing this this, and I've been holding off on getting into the 10mm game until they release it...and it keeps not happening. With their killing off the .45 P320 (which I assumed would be the parent platform for the 10mm), I'm getting kinda concerned that they've given up on the idea altogether.

I'd also like them to make a steel-framed P220 Compact (No rail, no tail) in 10mm....but that's even more of a pipe dream than the P320.

Something in 7.62 x 25.

Norinco did it with their 226 clone.

Another vote for a P-239 with greater capacity.

Think they should do a gun between micro (P365) and subcompact. Thinner with P365 mag technology, but very slim, in all 3 sizes, full, compact, sub.

Also needs a trim Da/Sa deaign

A true double stack like the original SP 44-16 would be kind of bulky. I think a semi-staggered 10 round magazine like the 1907 Savage could be kept pretty slim with G10 or Micarta grips.
Why 10? Because I shoot IDPA ESP.

I agree with 92fstech,a Standard P320 in 10mm with a reasonable MSRP well under $1000.00!

Some interesting suggestions.

I confess I wasn't familiar with some of the newer striker fired guns, as I tend to gravitate towards guns with a hammer and a good trigger. Looked up the P320 and was surprised to see you can really customize these. If I hadn't recently spent a bunch on other guns, I admit this would be something I'd take a look at.

Also, liking all the 10mm suggestions. A great, flat shooting caliber capable of putting some energy on target, yet small enough that you can put it in a high cap mag. And honestly, if you put it in a well designed full sized gun, not all that difficult to shoot.

1911 commander sized with no rail and no forward slide cuts....or milled down like the other 1911s they make...just a standard 1911 commander in 9mm,45,38super with good sights.
