I shot both a 9mm 1911-A1 and a Ronin yesterday.I told the owner I would make an offer on both, but he is going to keep the Ronin a bit longer. I thought the Ronin felt heavier, but did not measure it. The 1911-A1 has very nice adjustable sights. The grips are a bit thick for me and I will replace them with Pachmayers.

I have been wanting a full size and weight 9mm 1911 since I sold my RIA a couple of years ago.

I found out it has Torx grip screws and I am going to replace them when my Pachmayer grips get here.

I shot it last week and was very pleased. I hope the weather cooperates and I can get back out this week. The recoil is negligible. The wooden grips felt too big for me.

I just realized this evening, the grips are marked Range Officer.

Assuming it's apples to apples (5" 9mm Range Officer to a 5" 9mm Ronin), they're the same weight. 41 ounces.

If standard thickness 1911 grips are too thick for you, you could remove the grips, then unscrew the grip bushings using a bushing extractor, and then install some slim bushings and a set of slim grips with slim screws.

Slim 1911 grips are about 0.2" thinner than standard 1911 grips.

I took it to the range yesterday for the 3rd time and I really shot it well. It is much more accurate than I am.

I removed the Torx screws and replaced the grips with a Pachamyer grip. I have them on my other 1911's and will see how I like it here. If not, I have the 2 piece rubber grips I took of my Ruger LW Commander.
