What are my options? I currently carry a S&W 442, but I'm hoping to get a small bump in capacity. I'm not really comfortable carrying a striker fired or single action handgun.

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

Kahr PM9. DAO, but I think your choices are going to be very limited in that form factor.

The smallest I can think of is a CZ 2075 RAMI but I wouldn't consider it a pocket pistol. After that, maybe a HK P30 or P2000.

I wanted an extra round over the 5 shot LCR so I went with the Kimber KS. Dont have a lot of rounds through it yet, but good so far!

How big are your pockets?

I got pants I could carry my P30SK in, but it is pretty chunky

You and me both, OP. I'm coming to terms with the fact that it doesn't exist. My pocket gun is still a 642.

Afaic, pocket carry means the thing should disappear or nearly vanish and doesn’t give any indication that you’re cc’ing. There are no DA/SA pistols with capacity more than six that can fit into OP’s requirement.

^^^ He didn’t say, but pretty sure OP wants something more than a .32 for defensive purpose. Going from .38 Special to .32 Auto is probably what he won’t want.

Consider a Ruger LCR in .327 Fed Mag. Pretty good ballistics and 6 rounds instead of 5.

You may be able to find a used Colt Government Pocketlite. It's a 1911-ish aluminum frame .380 with a fairly smoothe, true DAO action and a capacity of 6 + 1. I always found it to be surprisingly easy to hit with. I shouoldn't ever have . . . .

The Pocketlite is SAO.

Closest thing I can think of is a Walther P99c. It’s not a pocket gun but it’s in the G26 size range and smaller than a P30sk or P2000sk. It’s discontinued but out there.

Truth is I can’t think of any 9mm sized, DA/SA guns that are what you are looking for (which is I assume a P365/Hellcat/etc. competitor)

Springfield made the XD-E for a hot second and while it’s no pocket gun it is thin.

Honestly I think a .327 fed mag Ruger is probably your best bet.

I've had some past luck with a Polish P-64 that's chambered in 9mm Makarov.

Detractors will point out that it's a solid steel pistol, so it is heavy. Then there is the trigger pull from Hades.

I've owned a couple of them over the years and carried one in my front pocket of Duluth Cargo pants and shorts.

I think it was maybe 300 bucks or so. They are Mil-Surp and become available now and then. It's been a while since I shopped them so I don't know what inflation / supply has done to the pricing.

Maybe he meant Colt pocket 9. Good luck finding one.

Honestly I think your best bet for something hammer fired is, unfortunately, SAO. If you are willing to learn a safety it opens up stuff like the CSX and a bunch of kimbers. I am fully in your camp and would love a DA/SA option but alas have just accepted strikers rule the roost here.

The SAO gives you the locked state of safety that while not a simple DA pull at least gives you that layer of safety and you get a good’ish trigger.

Me….never could train myself to sweep off a safety under stress but I also never devoted myself to it either.

I’m only offering this as a suggestion because I just can’t think of anything that fits the OP ask not because I am being one of those guys who offers a totally off the reservation choice.

Exactly what I was going to say - try out the underrated P290RS. 6 or 8 round magazine ups your capacity just a wee bit and the trigger pull is similar to what you're already used to.

I agree that the P290RS was and is extremely underrated.
