First range trip today, just bought my P365 a few weeks ago from Bass Pro. Fired 210 rounds and experienced about one dozen instances of failure to go into battery. All instances occurred when I fired subsequent rounds right at the onset of trigger reset. When I fired without catching the link, the pistol went into battery every time.

Ammo was Winchester 124gr 9mm NATO. Also, during each failure, the slide was just close enough to allow the striker to put a light hit on the primer. Any ideas?

I generally ignore failures with a single type of ammo. It can be anything from OAL to bullet shape to over/under power that is messing with timing.

Try another load. If it does the same, then there may be something mechanically wrong.

If the pistol is firing out of battery, that's best not ignored.

You are correct. Each failure resulted in a stoppage and light primer strike. Each failure occurred only when I used a short trigger reset by catching the link on the prior round.

If it's moving the firing pin enough to indent the primer, and it's out of battery, it's a concern; a big one. It's functioning out of battery, and it shouldn't. At some point it's going to discharge, unsupported, unlocked, and you're going to know it, and probably see damage (and potentially injury). Been there.
