I mentioned in another thread that I'd been contemplating a few changes in my handgun platforms. One of which was cycling out my P365 for a P938. I made that move the other day, picking up a used P938 Legion. Next up was to replace much of what I would use my Gen-3 Glock 19 for,.. though I'm keeping it for nighttime weapon with a rail-mount light.

I came across a pair of West German P228s locally, both with boxes, papers, test targets and hang tags. The first is a JK from 1989 and has some crazy Pyramid sights on it. Eek Trijicon SG01s already on order! The other is a really excellent condition KD 1993 example.

The deal came with five OEM magazines, a mixture of the dove-tail backed and zipper back magazines - two of which are still factory sealed!

Ok, enough words. Pics!

Nice!

You now have twice as many P228s that I have.

It was an unusual situation, but certainly I had not set out to get two. But as the opportunity presented itself, I just couldn't bring myself to leave one behind.

Those are both very nice, awesome score! And good call on making those sights go away. I've never seen anything like that, and I hope I never do again lol.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I will regrettably have to admit that they kind of DO work. But they're ghastly.

The Classic P Sigs are the most badass-looking guns ever, since the Colt 1851 Navy. I love my P-229, porcine as it is, and will never give it up willingly.

If the 228 was lighter, I would happily give up my G-19's, though, and carry the 228.

ARE YOU LISTENING, SIG??

Love your 228’s, great find. Been looking for one to finish out my W German Sig collection. I don’t get out and about to gun stores or pawn shops very often anymore to run across finds like this. Need to start back up and see what I can come across. Hate to say it, but I maybe a little jealous. Enjoy!

Thanks guys, I feel pretty good about the acquisitions and shift.

And @"cee_Kamp", it's just an iPhone, but I do try to find a spot with decent lighting and I tap to focus. Then I crop first, and upload to my hosting site (ImageShack).

A hammer fired gun from Sig comparable to a P228 but lighter? Sorry, not in your lifetime. If you want lighter-weight hammer gun comparable in size to a G19, I recommend one of the following:

CZ 75D PCR - this one has no rail and is most similar to a P228
CZ P-01
CZ P-09 Nocturne compact - comes optic-ready
HK P2000 - recently discontinued, IMO the closest thing you can get to a hammer fired G19
HK P30SK
