monoblokAs much as I like my Mk25, at this point in my life I'd be attracted more so to the heritage of the gun. And since they don't make 'em in Germany anymore there's a limited supply of those whereas Newington for the foreseeable future will keep pushing out Mk25s.

dking271I am blessed to already have some W. German and German Sigs so my desire to scratch that itch is gone. I recently picked up an MK25 and dropped an SRT kit and fat custom strut from GGI into the gun. It is an absolute dream and I anticipate firing the snot out of this gun. It’s a tough call because both firearms have their benefits. If the goal is to shoot the heck out of it my vote is the MK25, if this is just because you’re plugging a hole in your collection get the classic.

This. I had the same struggle, and went with the MK25, really just for the accessory rail. It is my go-to, and wears an IR laser and white light. If you're gonna use it in a practical sense, the rail is non-negotiable, in my opinion.

I'll surely go for the German P226

KSGMI wonder if the poll results are skewed by people not being able to dissociate the real-world value of the German gun. If I had neither, and someone offered me a NIB German 226 at MK25 price, of course I'd choose it over the MK25. If both guns were actually WORTH THE SAME, I'd choose the MK25 for the accessory rail and coatings.

TannerBoylBack in 2006, I made the decision to take the newer railed pistol over the older production ones just for the ability to add a light to the rail. Almost all of my Sigs have the rail now, but I really only use a light on one pistol.
Today, I’d take the West German pistol over the MK25. Either would be cool, but there was something magic about those carbon steel slides.

SSAreGreatI have over 10,000 rounds through my SIG p226 MK25 and it is my favorite 9 mm pistol, however, I can always order another MK 25 but a West German P226 I would not pass up. It is part of history IMHO.

patwPersonal preference for me is the MK25. Has a lot of improvements over the standard gun-parts are coated differently/more durable, parts availability and a rail. I understand those that want the original and more power to you but for me, the MK25 is an improved version without sacrificing quality.

wgsigsThe one without a rail.

YooperSigsI have a 1988 German 226. Shoots like new. But I voted MK because its more modern features make it a better gun. To me, anyway.
