Where there's smoke, there's fire!! |
Any of you guys have both the Glock 21 and the Sig P320 in 45acp that can give me feedback on how the two compare shooting wise?

I have a Gen 3 G-21 and love it. I don't know how many thousands of rounds thru it, hasn't failed me. It's also my duty weapon. I've only shot the P320 in .45, about 200-250 rounds. I like the trigger in the Glock slightly more, call me crazy, but I think it's a shorter pull, and maybe I'm just used to the reset now. I also like that I have 13+1 vs 9+1. That's what really sold me on the G-21 as I switched from my P-220. Recoil on the Glock seems a little smoother too, but I have a Stainless Steel Guide Rod which might make a slight difference. My department is a little messed up when it comes to the weapons policy, I'm grandfathered in for the .45 cal, however, I can only use this G-21 as my duty weapon, and can't go out and get another .45 gun... 9mm only. Bastards are keeping me from picking up a Gen 5 G-21 MOS! Holster selection for both is limited. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. I've only ever had the G21 OD green frame. It ran perfect from the 1st round and was very accurate. And it never once went off in the holster. A great pistol for the money.

Only experience I've had has been with a Gen 4 Glock 21. Unfortunately the grip was a little big for my smallish hands but that was resolved with some grip reduction work by Robar. One side benefit of the Glock 21, that I do not know if the 320 is able to do, is convert to 10mm. I've had this for a number of years and had not had any problems. When I go camping in northern New Mexico and into Colorado, I always switch over to 10mm.

Glock 21 for the win! “I'm fat because everytime I do your girlfriend, she gives me a cookie”.

I own both but for my hands the 21 grip is so uncomfortable that I have avoided shooting it. My p320 is the softest shooting .45 that I have shot in a lifetime of attraction to the caliber.

I've shot the .45 P320 and own a Gen4 G21. I like the SIG but I'm more than satisfied with the Glock and my performance and abilities with it. As I've harped in the past I've got small hands with short fingers that one might think would compromise a good purchase on any large gripped handgun, but I've had no issues handling and shooting any Gen4, Gen5 or Gen3 SF large frame Glock, whether it's a .45 or 10mm. Now Gen2 and regular Gen3 versions on the other hand... -MG

I have a P320 full-size in .45 ACP and, other than my 1911s, it's probably my best shooter. OTOH: I've never gotten along well with Glocks--other than my G34. "America is at that awkward stage. My G21 with old Robar grip reduction and a little armorer polishing of surfaces outdoes any P320 in .45 I've handled. I'm actually sliding away from the 320's but, that's another thread....

Lost, but making good time |
^^^this^^^ I have about 3K rounds through my P320F .45acp. It’s an absolute tack driver and a very soft shooting gun. My only wish is that it held at least 12 rounds instead of 10. That said, I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. Choose the one that you shoot better. Bye for a while, guard the fort. - My Dad

I do not have either. So my advice is just of an 'armchair' specialist. But given the choice I would pick G21. It is a more proven platform. There are conversions to other calibers (including the hot ones based off the .45) If you like sig ergonomics and the serialized fire control group (to add other configs without the need of another serial) -- the the SIG.

My other Sig is a Steyr. |
Glock 21. You can also convert it to run on 10mm or 38 Super.

I can't comment on comparing the two for shooting but I would suggest you go to a gun store and ask to see both... then ask if you can field strip the Glock and the P320... if they let you I bet you will know which one to choose. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

Had a G21 (gen3) that I could not shoot very well, ended up buying a G30 which was a tack-driver. Bought my P320/.45 and love it. I do wish there were higher capacity mags for the P320/.45 like the G21 mags I could use for my G30. Love shooting the P320/.45–as someone else said, it’s a soft shooting gun.

I really hit it off with my G21 gen4- it just shoots really well for me and never a bobble. I don’t recall ever trying 320 in 45acp but I might try and change that soon as I like my 9mm p320s very much. Speaking of 45’s I just noticed this was post 4506 - cheers to 3rd Gen S&W’s
