I saw an ad in the American Rifleman that in November, Remington is offering a $100 rebate on a couple of pistols. RP9, the crapastic R51, and the RM380. The $100 makes the RM380 a $150 +/- .380 pocket pistol. What do you all think of this?

Meh. They kind of have to try to give them away since they've got a pretty rough history. The releases of the R51 and RM380 were...pretty rough. I don't know about the R9 as I wasn't going to order any after getting burned on the others. It's probably going to take them years to recover, if they can manage it. If a customer wanted me to, I'd special order one. But I'm not about to stock any of them.

Unlike the R51, I don't personally know anyone who had problems with the RM380. I had one myself for a while that ran fine and seemed put together pretty well. I didn't care much for the trigger though and doubt I'd get another. The guy I traded mine to shoots it all the time and still carries it.
A LGS a few weeks ago was selling the LCP II for $189. If I were in this market I'd rather spend the extra for the Ruger than deal with any potential crap from Freedom Group.

smart move,
we have them at my workplace, and they are slow sellers,
have had to send a few back for repair,,,, one was locked up empty, cannot remember the other issues,
Bought a couple a few months ago and haven't sold one..... we sell a ton of LCPs.. the standard LCPs are $50+ cheaper and I think they are a nicer firearm... I'm not a fan of the RM380 (maybe it's a good gun I don't know I haven't shot one), but for $150ish maybe they'd be worth checking out....
