New P365 mag:

Two occasions of first round loading followed by feed failure. Upon removal of the mag, the follower was wedged in the can under tension with round resting on top down in the mag.

Lube may help but I’m curious if others have had the same.

Mag was loaded full (10) and yes, ten (10) rounds in this mag is tight.

Thanks-

Did you use an Uplula mag loader?

They recommend that you load the first round by hand and then use the loader. Otherwise the plastic follower can be damaged.

Great question, as I made this mistake with my P320X Compact when new.

Yes- thumb-loaded the first couple. Honestly, beyond round seven or so, the Uplula is the only way I can top off these little mags. Tight as H-

Uplula can damage the follower? News to me. I have to ask: How does it damage the follower?

There is a tab on the follower that can catch the edge of the can (corner below the slug). If you are thumb feeding the pressure it takes to clear that corner is obvious and slight side pressure pushes it clear. If you push hard with the Uplula, it’s easy to chip the corner of the follower or spread the corner of the can a little. That was my earlier experience. I have not encountered any reference to this from Sig.

The problem I outlined, above, did not recur at the range today so I really don’t understand why the spring and follower became lodged down inside the can. Gun shot fine with two different fully-loaded mags (including the one that jammed).

Not sure if this is related, I had problems getting full loads in new mags, using an Uplula. Something seemed to be catching. It took a little extra force and after a couple full cycles, things now work fine.

I too have read not to use the Uplula for the first round.
