Is there any difference in the VX besides which side the lever is on? Looking at P30L for a range gun. What about LEM? Better or worse than DA/SA. A Perpetual Disappointment...

I prefer DA/SA, but the light LEM is pretty dang good. Never tried the regular LEM. My preference is woth their DA/SA just because thats what hammer-fired guns are to me. Hk isnt really known for great triggers though. ____________________________ While you may be able to get away with bottom shelf whiskey, stay the hell away from bottom shelf tequila. - FishOn

That's just the Flomax talking |
DA/SA (V3) is completely different than V1 (light LEM) or V2 (standard LEM). For range use, V3 may make more sense because the SA trigger pull is shorter (the gun is cocked). The LEM trigger pull is like SA in weight but with a long pull like DA.

The light LEM is HK’s best trigger. The P30 you will have two choices for DA/SA, no safety or with safety. LEM has two choices, regular or light LEM. The P30 DA/SA trigger is pretty bad imo in double action and I recommend smith work and I always recommend Robert Burke for HK, Sig, and Beretta work. HK’s light LEM is fantastic but it’s a special or slightly different trigger compared to a striker. As with any potential pistol purchase I recommend renting what you are interested in. If you cannot at least finger bang at the LGS. The configurable grip on the P30 is second to none. You can dial that into your hand with the supplied side panels and back straps. What am I doing? Go ahead punk, make my day |
Agreed. To me, it's like a 2-stage AR trigger, albeit with more take up on the first stage.

I would argue that light LEM is is HK's worst trigger option especially on the P30/P2000 series of pistols. The long reset and lazy trigger return spring gives almost no feedback to the user especially if you prep the trigger during recoil. IMO the heavy trigger return spring is a must if one is shooting an LEM equipped pistol at speed.

It is all about personal preference. My P30SK is LEM and I like it a lot for CCW while my HK45 and P30LS are DA/SA. There are more then a few LEM variations. Link below explains various spring combinations needed which are TRS, hammer spring, and FPBS courtesy of TooSixy at HK Pro. http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-...nt-lem-variants.html The DA trigger pull on the P30 and P30L can be improved dramatically with a couple easy spring changes - the hammer spring and the FPBS and some are happy just changing the hammer spring and it is the easiest to do. https://www.hkparts.net/shop/p...-11-lb-198p18147.htm https://www.hkparts.net/shop/p...e-Light-198p1955.htm Tutorial on how to change Firing pin block spring, and TRS. NOTE DA/SA HKs already have the light TRS installed. Many use the HK parts tool to change the TRS for LEM as that is hardest one to do. P30 9MM DA/SA has 14LB hammer spring from factory and P30L 9MM DA/SA has 12LB hammer spring from factory according to the user manual. Check user manual for parts schematic for parts number if needed. http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-...er-job-part-1-a.html https://www.hkparts.net/shop/p...istols-198p16031.htm https://s3.amazonaws.com/hkusa...-Manual-05302013.pdf The HK LEM trigger is often referred to as a "street trigger" The link below explains more and advantages and disadvantages of various trigger actions. The two videos demonstrate LEM. If you try an HK LEM in a store be sure to rack the slide first to cock the internal hammer. https://pistol-training.com/archives/8549

I MUCH prefer the LEM trigger over the V1/V3 variants in H&K. The above references are likely far more detailed and better than my take but anyway to me the H&K LEM trigger is a Glock trigger with a hammer and 2nd strike capability. An LEM takes a little getting used to but once you realize if you load the chamber you have a light takeup and crisp final pull just like on a Glock. You can restrike with a heavy DA pull if you need. As far as the Light LEM vs LEM etc etc HKPRO has all the necessary springs to customize an LEM to your tastes. You can use springs from the different sets to balance the trigger to your needs. Try and work with the LEM for a bit and I think it will grow on you. BTW if you want a P30L in LEM and really want a DA one I have one I'd gladly pay to upgrade! :-) FWIW the 45's can be upgraded to LEM from DA/SA but the P2000's and P30's have frame cuts that won't allow conversion from one to the other so buy what you want the first time in P2000's and P30's. Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun...................
