I just ordered a second optic compatible slide for my recent production P229 elite so I could have both a red dot option on one slide and iron sights only on the other. I'm putting a Trijicon RMR on it with an adapter plate and need optic compatible irons for it. I want a lower 1/3 cowitness (or even lower). For those of you who've put a RMR on your P229 of P226 with the current factory optic cut, what iron sights did you choose, and what cowitness resulted? Sig offers the xray3 super tall sights, but I have no idea if they're too tall or not tall enough. I prefer all black backup irons but would get something with tritium if they have the right cowitness. Thanks.

Try Angry Bear sights. All black and no frills. I paid around $45 for the sets. I found night sights very distracting when running a dot. Now there were two "dots" in focus. On my city-issued gun, I used a black Sharpie over the sights. Just pass the marker over real quick and then gently wipe it away. It doesn't color them over but kind of dulls them. Sensitive and caring since August 2009 Some people are like a Slinky....not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.
