I am looking or recommendations for a GOOD quality BENCH REST for both my Sigs and Rifles that does not break the bank.

One that will hold up for some years to come shooting about twice a week.

Most I have looked at online seem to be of poor quality, and the reviews tend to be poor as well.

Unfortunately your “not break the bank” pretty much rules it out, but I have a Stukeys bench and could not be happier. It is rock solid and relatively easy to transport even for my 76+ YO abilities.

I usually avoid making recommendations about anything, but I make an exception for this product.

What are you trying to do in terms of equipment to zero? For a pistol literally any bag will do in my experience. Even a small bean bag on a bench. I personally just use my rifle armageddon gear bag and its more than fine. For a rifle it really depends on the setup. I normally run a bipod so that and a stable platform is all I need. But I have ACRA on a some things and that means I can just use that. If your rifle has nothing then no experience, but it would be hard for me to believe that you need anything other than a good front rest.

Food for thought. I will be shooting at an indoor range where the rest tables are very small.

What is ACRA?

Sigfreund, your tastes are beyond my pocket book but thank you for your suggestion.

I went with the Caldwell Stable Table. It is very, well, stable and sturdy. But it is on the heavy side and a bit awkward although doable for one person to unfold and set up. For me anyway.

When a bench at the gun club is not called for, I bought an MTM Shooters Bench. It works and was a good bang for the buck.

An ACRA rail is this big rail that can be used as a gun mount so you can literally hang the gun off a tripod/bipod etc. Quick search will show you examples.

In any case I can't image a table that is too small for a couple of wood blocks and a bag that you can shoot off. I've zero's dozens of guns with just that.

Umm …. I believe we mean Arca (as in Arca-Swiss), not ACRA.
Some discussion here:

I do, however, agree that it is a good mounting system. I have Arca rails on most of my precision rifles.

I just wanted something to hold my rifles and pistols steady on while I zero them in. At this point, I might consider a big bag peanuts in the shells. Light weight, and I could snuggle the barrel in the center of the bag. And if my session is long, I would always have something to snack on. Smiling.

I've seen many adjustable rests for rifles that are under $100.

or something similar. As long as the rifle is supported and you do your job with the aiming, it works perfectly!

Good luck!

A few years ago I bought a Lyman Bag Jack Shooting Bag Lift. Combine with the bag of your choice. Works great. Lyman also makes a bag to match.

If you're broke like me, a simple solution is one of those plastic folding condiment tables like SAMs or Walmart sells. Then, I use my rice socks. Yes, you read that right. Buy the cheapest bulk rice you can at your choice of stores. Then, buy the biggest socks you can find at the surplus store. Fill one sock as much as you can with rice, tie a knot in the end, drop it knot first into the other sock and knot that one too. I usually use two or three up front and one in the back (rifle), and one or two under the grip (pistol).

My whole "tabled and bagged" set up was less than $40. Works just fine for my purposes.

Brought to you by broke-ass redneck. Wink

(Side note: a rice sock in the microwave for a minute or two is a wonderful heating pad for your shoulder or back after a full day of shooting. Dual purpose!)
