Which one, p220 legion or 320X-ten in 10mm
Seriously looking for a good semi-auto in 10 MM for target shooting and carrying in the woods as a defense weapon. Have narrowed down to a P220 Legion in SA/DA {I already have a p220 in 45 acp, and love it} or the 320 X-TEN. The only issue being reliability. My P220 has never had a failure in any way, and shoots great, but only 8 rnds.. The 320X-Ten is 15 rnds. but have read about some issues with reliability. Just looking for any personal input, experiences or helpful thoughts on my possible choice? Any info on red dot optics for either gun ? Thanks in advance !

The Kimber DS Warrior comes in 10mm (either 5" or 6" barrel) with a 15 round flush fit and 18 round extended magazines, but if you're only looking at Sig, the P220 is where it's at.

I like the grip and feel of the P220, 1911 style grips just don't work for me, at all.

Consider an Ed Brown 1911 long-slide in 10mm. A great handgun, very accurate and mine has been 100% reliable.

How much carrying in the woods are you planning on doing, and how?

I did Highline Trail in Glacier NP with an XTen in a chest back, and that was heavy. I don't even want to think about carrying a full size all steel gun.

As far as red dots I've had good success with the SIG optics, Romeo1/2/X, and no dorking with adapter plates.

Target shooting is not your stressing case, it's if you plan on doing miles carrying the gun + what ever other gear that is going to make the diff. If that's your use case, I'd recco the lighter gun .

Sorry, wasn’t clear enough. Given your choices definitely the P220. I have had 3 of them and loved them. Simply don’t carry them due to weight/size vs capacity. The DS Warrior is MY evolution in the search for MY 10mm favorite.

I don’t mean to be the stereotypical internet guy proposing a choice outside what you presented.

With all that said, they DS Warrior is a double stack 1911 with carbon fiber grip module so don’t sell it short quite yet. It’s not your normal 1911 grip Big Grin

No problem just don't care for the fit and feel of a 1911 style gun. Been down that road, and just not comfortable for me to shoot. The P220 I do like , but have not have tried the 320X-ten and was looking for comparisons to the 2 that others could shed some light on. If I did spring for a red dot, Sig would most likely be the brand. Just decided on which model and able to hold up to 10mm recoil. Carry weight os a non-issue for me.

I'd go with the P220 Elite. There are quite a few options that make 10mm what it hasn't been before.

While the Legion may have extras you don't need and the P320 may ask for more, anything else and you may be better served with a Glock 40 MOS or an STI Perfect 10.

Let us know what you ultimately decide.

My only experience with the P320 is the XFIVE Legion in 9mm. It was a nice shooter, but I can’t imagine choosing one over any P220-series. I highly doubt that any perceived difference when shooting those platforms in 10mm would change my mind. That said, if the higher capacity is a must, then the choice is obvious. Otherwise, I’d go with the P220 all the way.

I’ve owed both. My P320 had a Xvtac or Xtac grip. Can’t remember what those are called. And while it was comfortable in the hand, it doesn’t compare to the 220 at all. The P220 is the best shooting 10mm I’ve ever owned. It was made for it.

If weight nor capacity are a concern then the P220 is the answer over anything else.

I have no complaints with my Leupold DPP. It bolts right up and is shake awake. I carry it in a Kenai chest holster when I’m in the woods. It’s the most accurate Sig that I own.

Think it will be the P220, just have to figure out the best optic/red dot that will take the recoil of 10mm. Appreciate all the input !

While I like the P320 and have one, I would rather have a P220 in 10mm if I were to get one in that caliber. It's hard to beat the P220 and the P220 seems to ease recoil as well. Now if Flux Raider made a chassis for the caliber, then the P320 would be perfect.

As far as optics go for a 10mm, Trijicon and Aimpoint are solid choices but pricey. The Holosuns aren't bad but I have only had experience with 9mm pistols and they seem to hold up well.

The P220 is my preferred SIG platform.
I have had several and still own several. One of them is a P220 in 10mm. It is one of the best shooting handguns I own.
I also own a couple P320 FS pistols.
For 10mm, i say go with the P220.
My choice for polymer, striker fired, beat around 10mm is my Glock 20

I have just about 4 decades on the Sig P series pistols. Despite carrying a P365 Legion every day, I much prefer the P Series to anything else I own.

The P220 in 10mm is a steel frame and one heavy gun . If you don’t mind the weight that’s the one you want .
